Fun fact: Niet actually called that people would guess that.
It's not a decoration.
Uhhh... How to explain. Uhm.
It's a Witch, right? Yeah. That's totally it. Witches cast magics and... Shrink things and stuff. I guess.
But also, seriously like - Weedle. 1 foot tall.
I have my personal doubts.
There's a part of me that looks at the sizes we're given for some things and... "Really...? Pokémon, are you sure?" But - I mean hey, who am I to judge I suppose, right? :p
Some things just are the way they are and trying to apply too much logic is detrimental to your experience.
Hence why I've given up. Witches, anyone? xD
I personally just think it should have been wurmple and not weedle. Because name origin of wurmple is worm. But also because I feel like weedle wouldn't be tasty? At least for a bird, since it has a big horn and have poison. While caterpie would be a better choice.
While I understand that "pokémon logic" the resprite just seems a bit akward because of the weedle part. Resprite looks cute tho! Oh and something that I thought was strange too, why is weedle still keep normal and shiny color for the albino and melan E.B Natu? Cramorant and Witch Purrloin still have respectively an albino/melan Pikachu and an albino/melan spinarak.
Also I would still be curious about portalgheist, I still didn't got an answer on this one. Why a door with a face when it could have been more than that?
My first language is french! So sorry in advance for misunderstanding xD
Profile picture made by myself!
Gacha for DCP!
Ok fine i will try to address some things that I feel like I can give an answer. I'll preface this with the concept art that may clear up some things? Or not. Seems people are offput by the door's face, I was trying to draw inspriation from some classic mons like voltorb and gengar for the eyes/teeth, if that makes any sense. I know object mons aren't for everyone and I knew that going into this lol. If I didn't respond to your post then it just means I didn't have anything meaningful to add that I don't think can't be addresssed by the rest of this post. Not trying to single anyone out.
More than what? It's a possessed antique door. That's just what it is. Sometimes things are simple by design to make them recognizable and get the idea accross effectively.
The knocker is supposed to have both lion-ish and goblin-ish features from real life doorknockers, it's not purely animal. There's plenty of pokemon that have quite different facial features upon evolution.
And you are correct, the door has the leftover "shell" of the original knocker on it, and it becomes very simplified. I don't think it's fair to claim that "no one will notice it" because, well, you did, and I've had other people notice it as well. I specifically made that detail the only thing that's the same color as a clue to what happened.
I appreciate the ideas but I think you guys are focusing too much on the lion aspect. It's essentially a possessed hunk of metal.
The green color is reminscent of a copper patina. I can't really comment any further on the colors if you don't say what exactly it is you don't like about it.
What would you suggest to make it feel less generic? I did want to include some fleur de lis metal crossbars seen in the original concept but they ended up getting cut in the revision stage.
I disgree that they're that widely unrelated. The knocker possesses the door it's attached to when it evolves.

The door has like a troll face or something I don't even know what it is but it doesnt match. It's a cool design and all but still doesnt match with the pre stage if you ask me. If the pre-stage was some door troll or more human face then it would make since BUT...its like the lion vanished and this totally confusions me and probable a lot of other people.
However, the lion is placed in the sprite from what I can see! I can see this slightly as its the doors nose? Correct me if I am wrong but because it is so tiny no-one will notice that at all.

One idea I thought of is the smoke around it could have been formed into a lion so it look like prestage was a spirit and was infused with the door

You could make it into so much more, add some connections with Mocknock, it can be a door with a roaring lion ghost which loves to spook everyone
it could look smth like this in its calm state

the colors for mocknock are errmm.. not so great. i couldnt really tell what it was at first until i realized after a while. i usually love objectmons but this was not executed very well. there were many cool ways to go about the concept of both of them, especially for portalgiest... its a door. its sprited very well, but it looks like its a generic door sprite from a random game with a face on it. (and the sprite for portalgiest is also gigantic). the evolution family look completely unrelated, from a metal-like lion creature to a slab of wood.
Well we've seen in pogo that sizes can vary; who's to say that's not just a very small weedle and a particularly large EB natu?
I like the new sprites, bunny ear eyebrow feathers and all. Reminds me of when people stick feathers back into birds to give them ears xD definitely looks better now I think, before I struggled to really see a difference.

Whilst I agree with the general sentiment of.. yo that's a door l, I'd like to bring up something that's bugging me about mocknock
The metal pattern it's sitting on looks very strange in terms of shading. Like there's an outer shading following the outline that makes it look.. very cartoony? Idk it bugs me a bit, it makes the outline of that metal plate price look super thick compared to the rest of the sprite and it looks off.
I love the rest of mocknock a lot! And the actual execution on both sprites is, as always, technically wonderful. The art staffs ability to match the official sprite aesthetic always impresses me and they've done it again. However, the design and pose for the evolution really throws me off. I can't quite tell what angle it's meant to be at, if there's some kind of portal thing behind it then we're seeing it at a strange as heck angle that's for sure.
I do love the concept a tonne. Mixing various summoning spirit ideas like bloody Mary and doorways to the dead with a heraldic lion style doorknocker is a super cool idea and I love it, as do I love the shading and effects. It's the design and pose that fall down, as stated prior; I'm cool with it turning into a door as long as that door looks like a Pokémon, and in this case it.. doesn't.
I love the new Blue Moon sprites!! Especially the Macargo! The line before looked just like a recolor so I'm glad its getting some attention.
AHHHH THEY'RE SO PRETTY ;;;;;;;;;
that's all i have to say bye

I had already said it to the Art Staff on Discord but I'm so in love with the coral on Magcargo. the colors, the detail, just *chef's kiss* mwah, gorgeous! I'm so in love with the Melan's colors, they all go so nicely - heck, the entire line's ( Reg, shiny, etc ) palettes are just so lovely
I have a newfound love for Blue Moon now
