There is certainly something to be said about how potentially mods that were involved in the decision making process were simultaneously participating in RMT. Nobody gets a grace period, but is this not a grace period for the mods knowing RMT was potentially being removed? There are a lot of questions.

It definitely is pretty unfair. I would hope that mods would have known better, but from the sounds of it there was definitely indiscretion.

the problem as someone who has been on this site a long time is I have severe doubts any mods will take accountability and admit they were inside profiting. Asking them to come forward is the right and correct thing to do but I just have doubts that they will it's a but unfortunate..... a lot of the mods here don't take responsibility and I jusy don't see them taking ownership.
I'm unsure how I feel about this to be truthful. On the one hand, if a staff member was rushing to sell everything they could for profit before the change, that's obviously very wrong, and I feel they should definitely be obligated to offer tradebacks in this case. On the other hand, it's definitely concievable that a staff member or two may not consider the RMT ban a factor in this. I think the staff should have been banned from using RTM the moment they were told, but that was on whoever told them, and whoever were the driving forces behind the decision. To say all staff RTM trades recently were made with malicious intent seems farfetched to me though.
