Lifestyle: Travelers are a diverse group consisting mostly of nomadic loners that can't stand the idea of staying in one place for too long. Most travelers have a special love of the wind and high places and prefer passing from tree to tree during their journeys to avoid the 'stationary' cats that live in the lower places. Despite this tendency to avoid others they also have a deep love of collecting and sharing stories (what they call 'trading tales') and will occasionally gather useful things to offer in exchange for 'traveling protections' so they can cross into a clan/tribe's territory.
In order to communicate and maintain their traditions over such distances they've developed the 'Howling Network' and the Council. The council is a group of older experienced travelers that have partially retired from their travels and a small selection of young 'runners' for when normal calls are considered too dangerous. These council elders are responsible for ensuring traditions are passed down and for calling gatherings to share news among travelers in the area. The Howling Network is their main means of communication which was created by mimicking wolf howls and consists of a warning call (a single 'note' repeated thrice that roughly translates to 'listen closely') and then the message which will be passed from traveler to traveler until it's run its course. For short-range communication (or when the network is deemed dangerous) they mimic bird calls instead.
Young cats born to travelers tend to spend their early moons with one or both parents before being given the choice to join properly. Those that want to join are then given the task to find their 'destiny mark', a sign that represents who they are and is usually more abstract than literal (though some do mark themselves or carry their sign to show their status as 'full' travelers). During this first journey alone they're referred to as 'little' travelers and upon completion they're recognized by the council during a special gathering to welcome them fully into the network.
When a traveler passes their spirit continues 'running with the wind' and may watch over their descendants much like StarClan does for the clans.You know all the meowths was a joke right? Well it was but now it's one of my shelved projects, had an idea and now there's like twenty five meowths in progress...I should really stop but playing with ideas is fun right? Maybe I'll use this inktober to get through them depending on the prompts, worked pretty well for Den's followers. Anyway, been trying to finish more of my character to-do list but I can't do that if it keeps getting longer...actually I haven't added too much lately, just the warrior cats which were technically listed as a maybe future clean-up anyway, but getting through art and expanded bios is exhausting.
Uh, this page is a minor headache (which I'll get back to eventually) so I won't be using my ramble template for a bit. Doesn't mean I won't ramble though~ Getting so deep into characters and worlds again means I've been neglecting PFQ a bit but I am keeping up my dex and rps (as best I can anyway). Most of my attention is in my pokéstuck world Faatasi right now which is probably my most developed and expansive world. I still need to note down more of the pre-history but I've been thinking about doing a comic with the core set from that world, leaning a focus on the mutant siblings or Raven's Hangout (after I give it a proper name) but we'll see after I finish all this preliminary stuff. If anyone's interested in learning more about my worlds or characters just poke me, I might be slow to respond but I love sharing my creations. Think that's enough for now so, Kitty Out~
Faatasi is still coming along nicely, it's slow true but world-building (especially from mostly scratch) always is and I really want to take my time with this one. That said I have finally finished the basic skeleton, just need to organize some more notes and flesh it out. Once that's done I'll be doing a 'prequel' comic of the world's early years, still haven't decided if I'll do one for the 'current' time or not (half-tempted to open it to rp once it's stable too but we'll see). Either way that's still a future thing, for now the plan is to lay down the world (and history) and then shift back over to expanding my characters~
PFQ news I haven't really been doing much, just idly continuing my houndour hunt and trying to keep up with things. Finally got all my listings updated and fields cleaned (and then almost immediately added back to them but that can wait). Still need to deal with my deltadex but that's a task for another day, mostly shifted to focus on normal anyway so there hasn't been much change other than new 'mons. Uh, is that all? Think so for now anyway so, Kitty Out~
Listings up-to-date again, which'll only last two days-ish til this tournament adds to it. I don't mind though, it's something to do and not too bad an upkeep (excluding region drops), plus I love seeing all the new designs staff comes up with~ Still only partially active though, busy irl and with Faatasi, so onsite just dealing with dex upkeep and evolving right now to get these badges done (plus tourney and hound chain).
Rps are...yeah I don't even know anymore, out of my hands and I don't have the energy to fret over them. All I can do is my part...
