Items to increase species or type odds in the shelter
Forum Index > Core > Suggestions > Rejected >
For players who do a lot of their shiny hunting via the shelter, I was wondering if it would be worth suggesting ways to increase the odds of these Pokemon appearing? For example, hunting Glameow is extremely difficult as it takes so long for Glameow eggs to appear in the shelter.
I think the easiest method of implimenting this would be via items that increase the chance of certain Pokemon types appearing. The percentage would likely have to be somewhat low so that it doesn't get too overpowered, perhaps somewhere between 5% to 20%?
Potential positives: Could encourage players to hunt unusual Pokemon. Would make obscure hunts more available to players. Would make hunting a little easier for players with other commitments.
Potential negatives: Could have potential to be considered overpowered and/or unbalanced (this could be balanced through mechanics such as a cool down timer).
The only reason I would use a "type filter" would be for Type Races and maybe certain Weekly Tournaments, and I only bring that up because of the title. Even then, there are Custom CSS that Gladion compiled in this thread, not to mention the The Summary of Rejected Suggestions, as stated here:
All in all, unless Niet says otherwise, I'm gonna have to say No Support

Any Additional Filters to Help Find Eggs/Pokemon
No additional filters other than the Black Flute and White Flute are planned. This includes filters by species, type, gender, and anything else you can think of.
Current Type Race Score: 0
Even if I'm offline for an extended period of time, that does not mean I lose intrest.70% of the world thinks Warrior Cats is stupid. 25% say: "Who cares?". Repost if you are part of that 5% that would take a hard cover copy of Warrior Cats and slap the other people saying: "STARCLAN IS OUT FOR REVENGE!”

The CSS codes you're refering to only highlight the Pokemon though, not making them more or less likely to appear.
This is halfway already implemented!
When you get a high enough shiny chain, (around the 50-100 mark?) the respective species' egg will appear much more frequently than normal.
Also, the eggs found in the shelter are DIRECTLY from those bred by the userbase. If you cannot find eggs of a certain species you want, YOU need to be the one to breed them and fill the shelter with them! (also its common courtesy to breed what you take so the shelter continues to have those eggs for everyone who needs them ^^)
Thats why you can only find certain species of eggs at a time, since if someone currently is not hunting or breeding them, they arent in the shelter at the moment!
Ah, I'm really glad you've explained this. I always assumed that there would be an element of automatic additions to the shelter. My bad! :^)
I do still think it would be kind of beneficial for players to help reach these chains in the begining, but perhaps not as much as I'd first thought.
no support.
they dont accept any filters for the shelter, you can use the css code, and reguardless there are usully no shinys/albinos as people sell them or trade them for delta points, people releaing specials is not common. if you want shinys/albinos you can hunt hem yourself or buy them, shiny hunting is the easiest kind of hunting here.
PM's welcomed as long as its an actual conversation.
person who made my PFP.
Do people really shiny (or other) hunt in the shelter? I always thought that was just a spot people leave unwanted pokemon for others to claim.
By "shiny hunting in the shelter" I don't think they mean literally hunting for shinies.
I think they just mean using the shelter FOR your hunt as it's where you go to grab the egg for the Pokemon you're hunting.
That being said though, people do sometimes release shinies and albinos to the shelter c:
