After being in "final review" for... uh... *checks calendar* oh. Three years??? Ahem...

After being carefully reviewed and reworked for quality assurance, Sinnoh has at last received its total sprite overhaul. Albinos and Melans have been revamped to bring them in line with our improved quality and standards, and many fixes have been made to the original sprites as well. To name just one example, Torterra actually has four legs now, instead of... three? Yeah, weird spriting... I hope you like them, we've spent literally years on it! :D

Is that the last generation that will be completely overhauled then, or are there still more to be updated? O: Not gonna lie, I went and peeked at my Torterra's fourth leg. x)

Funny thing is, I'm Evolving some Shiny and Albino Turtwig atm so I can have all three Pokemon in their line. I didn't notice the new Albino colors until I saw the announcement.

All the regions will get revamps minus the newest one. Link It's been so long, but I think it was mentioned somewhere that the variants/exclusives will be looked at and they get changed if it's needed. Probably after the regular regions though. :D

Okay, I'm normally the last person to say anything negative about this sort of thing, and I seriously appreciate the tremendous amount of work that's put into the art for this game, but... Seriously. I spent a significant amount of time and real world currency to obtain a full set of melans from the Gible line, and this change was an actual gut punch. There was absolutely nothing wrong with those sprites and now they look significantly worse for no good reason. I'm... Genuinely heartbroken. I love and adore everyone that pours their time and effort into making this game great, but things like this are the reason I have a hard time sticking around. Nothing like working toward a melan goal only to have it completely changed on you with little to no warning. ;_;

Really? We've been public about this for years now. The initial designs of Albinos and Melans are not good and we have been quite vocal about wanting to improve them. Again, I get it, and I'm sorry you're disappointed in Gible's change, but we have not made it a secret that things will change and we have given plenty of warning that it's happening at some point.

To add on what Niet said; There's a separate section in the changelog for the sprite revamps. It gets updated time to time, so there was plenty of time to prepare for this.

I totally get wanting to update designs that were of lower quality, and I was aware that it was an ongoing project, but I wasn't aware that that meant redoing every Sinnoh region pokemon. Maybe I'm just oblivious, and I can accept that if that's the case. But even so, I can't be the only one that's disappointed, you know? It feels like some of these sprites were changed... Just for the sake of making changes, without really improving anything. That being said, I'm sure my beloved landsharks are one of the few this applies to and the update overall was worthwhile. Credit where it's due and all. But it still stings.

If you have a css that replaces the sprite image and you want it to be the old melan gibble then the old sprite is still on the wiki
