Blocking Other Users

Summary of Suggestion: Create the ability to block another user. This would prevent the user from clicking your pokemon, messaging you, having you in their VIP list, trading with you, seeing/posting on forums you made, etc. Pros: Less drama on the site. I'm not sure if this happens often on PFQ, but adding a block button could help stop users making false reports that staff has to sift through just because they don't like another user. Cons: I can't think of any, I would like to see what other people can think of though. Reason for consideration: Lots of sites in which you can interact with people from all over typically have block buttons. It's a good way to prevent altercations with someone you don't like without trying to get them in trouble for something petty.

This has been rejected before, unfortunately (I can't pull up a specific link at the moment). However, I still support, because I would have loved to have a blocking feature to avoid an incident that occurred a while ago. One con to blocking though is that it can also cause a lot of drama. For example, in auctions if someone decided to block a person they were bidding against, the other person would not be able to respond or know about it. And I have seen on other sites that allow blocking that if a person is blocked for seemingly no reason (or even if they are blocked at all, no matter the reason), they can get really upset/hurt by it and try to call that person out. So while I would like a blocking feature, I'm pretty sure it will not be implemented given what staff has said, or at least not for a good while if at all.

No support. For a vast majority of the time, if its block worthy, its report worthy. A block system would just lead to people blocking others instead of reporting them and actually getting the issue handled. Plus it simply isn't feasible. What if person a blocks person b, just because they like something A doesnt. And person A gets pokerus. now b is not allowed to even try for rus during that time for no reason. What if someone quotes a post, but the quoted post is from someone who blocked you? What about pokemon with them in the timeline? Buying from the market? Plus the issues Silverr Rose mentioned. What if someone used blocking to hide their rule breaking somehow? A block feature sounds nice in theory, but it doesn't get to the actual roots of a problem, and simply has too many issues on a site like this where everything is so deeply user and user interactions based (and i don't mean just click interactions)

No support. As nice as a block system may sound it won't be a nice feature by the end of the day. A block system is a band-aid solution or it can be used in petty ways. So having it would only cause more issues. If something is very bad or worth your concern you can report it or pm a mod about it. All in all there is no need for a blocking system and chrisCrossed brings up some other good points as well.

As much as I would love this feature, it would cause a lot of problems. It would prevent users from clicking a blocked rus user, which would be unfair. It could also be used bully a certain user, by having a bunch of people block them. It could also be used to steal pokemon, or be used as a threat. It would create more problems than it solves. PFQ is a site based on being social, so a block feature simply can't happen.
