Remember that the number in the box shows you the number of bombs touching both the sides AND corners. That's what used to trip me up the most (and still does sometimes). The game Hexceed (free-to-play on pc/mac and switch) helped me understand the gist of bomb placement vs the numbers because of it's awesome tutorial, and that translated better into mine/eggsweeper.
