Suggestion Title: Thread Search
Suggestion Summary:
Yes, I know this has been suggested MANY times and when I was searching for if this has been suggest before all I could find was using key words to find a very specific thread. This would be for searching the name of the thread. I just thought this suggestion was a bit different that ones before to be considered
Have you ever seen a thread post and your trying to find it again? With the Thread Seach feature, you will be able to seach for that specific thread in a certain catagory. My idea is that the seach bar would be located at the top of the forums list (ex: first thing on top of the "Trades forum list there is an search bar). If not, I sepreate page that searches all forums (like the user search feature). Also this can help with wheither or not the thread you are seaching for was deleted. This feature would not replace the forums and turning them into a seach engine, it would just be an additional thing to the site.
Positive points:
- Quality of life
- Makes it easier to find a specific thread
- Avoids hours of searching for a specific shop/ thread you forgot to sub to
Negative points:
- Could just be a seprate page (similar to player search)
- Can't use key words
Reason For Consideration:
This is definatly a quality of life feature for the forums that could help out players when they need to find a specific shop/ thread again without seaching for it hours to find the right one. Very useful if you forgot to sub and can't find the thread again

Feel free to leave feedback or your own suggetions!
Edit: Took out catagory/tag feature since I didn't see it was rejected before
This has been rejected multiple times and "hard to code" is not a valid con
If you knew this has been suggested before why are you suggesting it again?

Can we please stop using "May be complicated to code" as a "negative point"? Firstly, who cares if it's "difficult to code", if it's a good idea then I'll put in the effort! Second, how do you know? Unless you're also a game developer with a level of experience on par or above my own, then you have little place judging the difficulty of a piece of code...

There is a big issue with something like this, and here's the example I like to use for it.
Let's say you want to search the Trade forums. You're trying to get a... let's say Beast Ball, since those are flying around right now.
So you search Beast Ball, right? Well... how would the search tell the difference between "Selling Beast Balls" and "Buying Beast Balls"?
Not to mention there are countless ways of actually writing that you have Beast Balls on offer. For instance, something like...
See the issue? To a human reading this, it's clear that the writer has a Beast Ball to sell (perfect!) but how would a search system know that?
It's a big issue in programming really, since it kind of relies on teaching the computer how to do a human understanding of post content, and that just really isn't possible here, sorry!

So I am guessing that you are looking for more of a 'search by tag' function? Unfortunately, as Constantine points out in the following quote that was taken from this thread, the largest issue for any search function in the forums would be the lag, which is something that this version of the site is not able to handle well.
However, there might still be another way to organize the trade forums that would not cause such issues. I'm not so sure how that would be laid out at the moment. Sub-forums of 'LF:' and 'UFT:' might be something interesting, but I imagine that issues of threads that are not quite either would arise, and having many sub-forums would cause it to look rather cluttered.
Perhaps with a little bit of exploring of the alternatives to a direct search bar, a helpful resolution to the problem can be found!

I've brought this forward to Niet, and unfortunately, the situation hasn't changed. Adding this in will be problematic for the server in regards to lag. As I said before, we have a mod tool that allows us to search forum posts - it lags when we use it and that's only a few moderators using it sparingly. Multiple people using something that is multiple search filters etc, will more than likely cause sally to K.O, or rather make it so that it's not even worth it as it slowly loads up.
Relaying from Niet; this is something that has happened before due to this being done in the past when we wanted a forum search. The result was the situation above, the lag.

@Vaporeon: Thought this idea was a bit different that the ones suggested before, which all suggested using key words. My idea was just to search by forum name
@Duusu: Didin't see the seach by tag feature one so thanks for pointing it out. Also I did consider suggesting UFT/ LF threads but, like you said, could make the forums look cluttered and could go off topic
I'm moving this to rejected based on all of the responses in the previous threads. We will not be adding a search bar to the forums.
There isn't much sense in searching for the name of a thread because threads have different names and can change. If you want to keep track of a thread, you can always subscribe to it.
