I'm investigating exactly how delta types affect field affinity, so I put a bunch of differently-typed lotad, all at 27% happiness, in fields that match their type, and I'm going to see if some get happier faster than others. I already know that they will get happier in fields that match their type, even if it doesn't match their non-delta typing, and I'm pretty sure that lotad (water/grass) get happier faster in grass fields than water, since water types like grass fields and grass types dislike water fields. Here are the pokemon in this test: Non-deltas: Field type: Grass Field affinity: Grass: match Water: like 5.25 hours later: 40% happiness 13.25 hours in: 59% happiness rate of change: +2.4% per hour Field type: Water Field affinity: Water: match Grass: dislike 5.25 hours later: 31% happiness 13.25 hours in: 38% happiness rate of change: +0.8% per hour Deltas: Field type: Electric Field affinity: Water: like Grass: dislike 5.25 hours later: 36% happiness 13.25 hours in: 48% happiness rate of change: 1.6% per hour Field type: Rock Field affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 5.25 hours later: 36% happiness 13.25 hours in: 48% happiness rate of change: 1.6% per hour Field type: Ghost Field affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 5.25 hours later: 36% happiness 13.25 hours in: 48% happiness rate of change: 1.6% per hour Field type: Poison Field affinity: Water: neutral Grass: like 5.25 hours later: 36% happiness 13.25 hours in: 48% happiness rate of change: 1.6% per hour At 55% happiness I moved the rock type delta to a poison field. When the other deltas were at 84% it was at 69%. Field type: Poison Field affinity: Rock: dislike Grass: like Water: neutral rate of change: 0.8% per hour At 17:24 3/19 server time I moved the rock type delta to a grass field at 81% happiness. Field type: Grass Field affinity: Rock: like Grass: match Water: like ...and then forgot to check back for almost 30 hours so I didn't get the data

nrrrrrrrrgh accidentally quoted a post instead of editing well anyway I realized that if I give my all to type races every month, I'll basically be spending a quarter of my time on that, which tbh I don't super care about, rather than my melan hunts, which I really do, so maybe I should stop

As a follow up to two posts ago, I'm conducting a second experiment on field happiness using just regular lotad in every type of field I own (except for water and grass because I already did those). Every lotad linked below is at 27% happiness at the time of posting. Field type: Normal Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Fire Affinity: Water: dislike Grass: like 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Fairy Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Electric Affinity: Water: like Grass: dislike 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Flying Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: like 14 hours later: 38% happiness rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: Dragon Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Rock Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Ice Affinity: Water: dislike Grass: like 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Poison Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: like 14 hours later: 38% happiness rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: Fighting Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Psychic Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Bug Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: like 14 hours later: 38% happiness rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: Ground Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: dislike 14 hours later: 16% happiness rate of change: -0.8% per hour Field type: Dark Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour Field type: Ghost Affinity: Water: neutral Grass: neutral 14 hours later: 27% happiness rate of change: 0% per hour 14 hours later, the results bear out my hypothesis: matching the field type results in +1.6% per hour, liking the field type results in +0.8 per hour, being neutral results in 0% per hour, and disliking the field type results in -0.8% per hour, with the effect being additive. I know this isn't the case with vampire gligars though (they get unhappy in ground type fields), but for lotad it works.

My computer just up and died as I was writing this post, so TAKE TWO. New hypothesis: delta pokemon use whatever type (new or original) has the highest affinity with the field to calculate % happiness increase in a field. Subjects: Field type: Fire Affinity: Fire: match Water: dislike Grass: like Happiness: 33% at 1:18, 39% at 4:49 rate of change: +1.6% per hour Field type: Water Affinity: Rock: like Water: match Grass: dislike Happiness: 29% at 1:20, 31% at 4:51 rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: grass Affinity: Fire: dislike Water: like Grass: match Happiness: 35% at 1:31, 43% at 4:52 rate of change: +2.4% per hour Field type: poison Affinity: Ghost: dislike Water: neutral Grass: like Happiness: 29% at 1:40, 31% at 4:52 rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: Grass Affinity: Poison: dislike Water: like Happiness: 27% at 1:40, 29% at 4:53 rate of change: +0.8% per hour Field type: Water Affinity: Poison: neutral Water: match Happiness: 27% at 1:42, 32% at 4:53 rate of change: +1.6% per hour Conclusion: slightly different from what I thought; the non-delta rate of change is calculated (so the rates for both types in case of a dual type pokemon are added), and that is compared to the delta type's rate of change, and the higher is used.

I finally finished mega evolving all the delta gyarados I had for my living hatched dex a few days ago! Now I'm at 15/12/9 for my magikarp line delta dex.
