The Team Magma Admin Log
You enter what appears to be a bedroom, there's a few Pokémon plush in a pile on the floor, a desk with a few photo frames on, a book, a pot of pens and pencils, paper, a few (persumed to be empty) magma balls and other bits and bobs. Looking around the room, you spot a food bowl, water dish and some burnt or melted toys which all appear to be large enough for a Houndoom. You realise you've stumbled into Yukiko Shi's room, a younger Team Magma member with a unique team compared to the other grunts. You approach the desk and read the cover of the book: Yukiko's Journal. Laying next to the journal is the trainer card.
OC aside, I'm Yukiko Shi, I live in the UK but I'm an hour ahead of PFQ's time. My first ever Pokémon game was Pokémon Ruby so the Hoenn region has a very special place in my heart. In my spare time, I'm a fan-fiction writer but sadly I don't have many Pokémon related fan-fiction. It seems to be a universe I seem to struggle to write for but I'll give it ago at another time. I sometimes watch anime, but haven't been recently as I've just never found the right time to sit down and binge watch a series I'm interested in. Current Favourite Pokémon: Pumpkaboo

Pokémon Gold
I've finally managed to pluck up enough courage and tackled the Elite 4 and Champion. Oh boy I probably shouldn't have done that before heading to work but it was so WORTH IT! Lance's Dragonite (Level 50) was the only Pokémon that gave me some trouble. It knew Fire Blast which put my Piloswine out of action but thankfully I stocked up on revives and hyper potions for Dragonite specifically. I knew that the battle wasn't going to be easy but I'm glad I've finally beat them instead of getting bored of grinding my levels up.
The team I had is Typhlosion, Ampharos, Bellossom, Corsola, Xatu and Piloswine. The only Pokémon I've used before has been Typhlosion. So using the other Pokémon for the first time in a main team has been really fun. Additonally, I used a Noctowl before I caught Natu for the team.
Overall, I've enjoyed playing the original Gold version and it's taken a very long time for me to get through the main story. I've already started Kanto and my team will only get stronger on the trip to take down Red.
Out of the legendary Pokémon encountered, I've only bumped into Raikou once. I haven't gone to Ho-Oh yet and I don't plan to any time soon, not until I've defeated Red.
My only issue in for the Gen 2 games is that there's no good places to train your Pokémon in. Which is one of the reasons why it took so long for me to pluck up the courage to think my team was good enough to go against the level 50 Dragonite. Apart from that, Gold is very enjoyable.

Something on my Mind
You know...I'm never going to become a Pokémon Master, and that's okay. In every region, very rarely has my Pokédex been completed. Never have I participated in any Battle Facility past the initial first seven battles, and...that's okay. My contest skills are terrible, and that's okay. My gardening skills (when possible), secret base (when possible) and shiny hunting luck are terrible, and that's okay. None of that matters to me.
But there is one thing I do know. Every region has Pokémon, waiting to pick a fight with you, to join you on your quest, to be there for you, yes, even you Zubat. Nicknaming your Pokémon is one of the most enjoyable features in Pokémon. You don't have to name them, just keep their original species name. All the power to you. For me, naming a Pokémon starts the bond between a Trainer and their Pokémon.
There are some Pokémon that get more love than others do, but that's natural for any trainer. Some Pokémon get more hate than others do, again, that's natural for trainers too. For me, I try and use Pokémon I haven't used before, so I can appreciate them (or try to) more than what I believed when I was younger and...well...more stupid than how I am as a trainer now. For many cases, I've grown to appreciate other Pokémon I didn't care about before. I never really took on an appreciation for Xatu as a Pokémon, having used one in a play through of Pokémon Gold, on the virtual console, I appreciate Xatu more than what I did before. This goes for other Pokémon too.
One of the reasons why I'm never going to stop playing Pokémon, is because loading up any Pokémon game and seeing my Pokémon either waiting for me in the PC or in my party, for me, is my favourite memories. Picking up a game once forgotten, and seeing familiar faces and cries of the Pokémon when you look at their stat screen...will always be some of my favourite memories.
