Blocking Users

Yes, I know, it was a feature, was removed, and isn't planned. But please, hear me out first before throwing pitchforks. :') Suggestion Title: Blocking users [PM wise] Suggestion Summary: The ability to block PMs from a user and possibly forum threads that are owned by the person who blocked cannot be posted on by the blocked person. Positive points: Allows for users to block other users who have made them uncomfortable with offsite affairs, so users can't report the person. Negative points: May be abused to cheat users out of items, was already a feature and removed. Reason For Consideration: Someone who has an account here has don't a lot to me off-site and I'd prefer to find some way to block them. In all fairness, if it becomes a problem here it could be reported and they could potentially get PM banned, but it may be more ideal altogether to just disable PMs once again. I'm a little nervous posting this, knowing how controversial it is :')

Must sound weird coming from me. But I heavily support. Not just for the reasons I can think of, but also because I know how manipulative some people can be. They can harass without it being harassment. Resulting in a weird thing where they can't be banned for it. Though I get that blocking can be quite bad too, for reasons I won't go into. In the long run I see the pros outweight the cons. Full support.

This is basically it. So long as they don't do anything on here, then you shouldn't need to worry about them. As soon as they do - even if it's minor - then... well, we don't tolerate harrassment and it will be dealt with if you report them for it. Even the smallest thing like you telling them not to message you, and they ignore it and message you anyway? Report, that's harrassment. Done, they can't get around that, @Cubs :D

Yeah, I realised after I said it :'P Just more of a "to not cause a scene in the first place" situation. I'll leave it unlocked in case anyone else has some ideas to throw at this-

No one asked, but I really feel like I need to throw in my two cents here. I feel like deciding to just.. not implement a block feature isn't a great idea? Reporting works well when people are breaking site rules, but there are lots of situations where that really isn't a viable option. For instance, if someone has actively harassed you off-site (but never on PFQ itself), being able to block them would bring a lot of people comfort. No running into them via the clickback/jump features, no possibility of them messaging you, no potential future problems. I'm not trying to criticize how the site is run now, but I honestly feel like a block feature is essential to any social website and would benefit PFQ and its userbase. At the very least, it wouldn't harm anyone.

How would you even KNOW that you've seen a user before on a different site if they haven't messaged you here? Maybe the same username, but some people don't use the same one repeatedly. You could even block someone totally random if someone else happened to pick a username that matched someone on a different site.

In my situation we were friends before they started doing this and we met on pokefarm, and if they have social medias or something linking to other profiles they own then it's more obvious. If you do the right research it's not hard to figure out :x

But if they don't message you here, then what they've done in the past isn't of any relevance...?
