A Guide to PokéFarm Type Race Events

What is the Type Race?

The Type Race is a monthly team event starting on the second Sunday of each month and running for 1 week, during which you will be assigned to a particular Pokémon type and earn points by hatching Pokémon of that type. By earning points for yourself and your team, you can earn Z-Fragments and even a Z-Crystal of that type! Any Eggs you hatch during the Type Race that match your assigned type will not break your Shiny Chain. Your Type Race page is located here. You can also see which team you have been assigned to by viewing the avatar image in your Trainer Card; hover your cursor over or tap on the Type symbol in the bottom left corner to see your team’s name. Your Type Race page will show you the following information:
  • The start and ending dates of the Type Race (remember, this is using the site’s time settings, not your local timezone).
  • Your progress in earning points towards your Personal Goals.
    • There are 15 Personal Goals you can reach, each awarding 1 Z-Fragment.
    • The 15th reward requires earning a total of 3500 points.
  • The collective progress of you and your fellow team members towards your Team Goal.
    • To receive your reward for meeting the Team Goal, you will need to contribute a minimum of 200 points during the Type Race.
  • The name of your Team Leader.
  • A direct link to your Team thread in the Type Race Teams forum.
  • Your team’s ranking in comparison to other teams during the Type Race.
    • The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-ranked teams will earn additional Z-Fragments at the end of the Type Race.
    • Each team’s progress will be updated once every hour at the 40-minute mark.
  • Your Type Rotation (the order in which you will be assigned to each type, which is unique to each player).

How do Teams work?

On the 1st of the month, there will be an announcement from Sally that prospective Team Leaders may apply to host their team's thread by creating a team thread in the Type Race Setup subforum. Team Leaders will have until the end of the 4th of the month to create their thread. If multiple Team Leaders apply to host your team's thread, on the 5th and 6th you will be asked to vote for the Team Leader/thread you prefer. On the 7th, the polls will close and team members may begin to post in their team thread. Team threads have two main purposes:
  1. Making it easier to hatch Pokémon and earn points by constructing a cooperative team clicklist.
  2. Boosting team morale through sharing your progress, special hatches, and otherwise discussing the event.
At the end of the Type Race, you will be asked to rate the performance of your Team Leader. Team Leaders who performed well while hosting their team will earn additional Z-Fragments as a reward. Participating in rating your Leader's performance will earn you 2 Z-Fragments for voting, even if you vote "Abstain". You may also leave feedback for your Team Leader.

What does a Team Leader do?

The Team Leader is responsible for maintaining the first post of the team's thread, particularly in regards to updating the clicklist whenever a new team member posts in the thread. The Leader is also responsible for monitoring the team thread and reporting any rule-breaking for Moderators to address. Team Leaders who do not uphold their responsibilities during the Type Race risk losing their leadership rewards. Free-to-use Type Race templates can be found here, or you can choose to use your own template (provided it complies with all Legibility Rules). Please note that if you choose to use one of the provided templates, the images and template code may not be altered without the permission of the original creator. Team Leader Dos and Don'ts
  • Do...
    • ...stay active! Going inactive during the Type Race could cripple your team!
    • ...report issues like double-posting, unauthorised trading, and spam that may occur in your team thread.
    • ...communicate with your team! Keeping involved with your teammates will boost morale and keep teammates interested in the Type Race.
    • ...coordinate with any teammate who may volunteer to host a raffle for your team (though we don't recommend hosting one yourself, that's a lot of work!).
    • ...set an example for your teammates!
  • Don't...
    • ...apply to be a Team Leader unless you expect to be active on the site through all or at least most of the Type Race.
    • ...apply to be a Team Leader unless you plan to participate for the duration of the Type Race; switching to a hunt that doesn't match your assigned type would be bad for morale!
    • ...try to address any rule-breaking yourself; this would count as mini-modding, which is against the rules.
The Type Race Rules can be found here. Note that unless an exception is noted in the Type Race Rules, all forum rules continue to apply to your Type Race team thread.

Tips & Tricks

  • The more steps needed to hatch an Egg, the more points you will earn.
    • 1280 = 1 pt
    • 2560 = 2 pts
    • 3840 = 3 pts
    • 5120 = 4 pts
    • 6400 = 5 pts
    • 7680 = 6 pts
    • 8960 = 7 pts
    • 10240 = 8 pts
    • 20480 = 16 pts
    • 30720 = 24 pts
  • Adding a hatched Pokémon to your Party will give an EXP boost to Eggs of the same species. Adding more than one hatched Pokémon will increase the EXP boost, at the cost of taking up a Party slot.
  • Adding a revived Fossil Pokémon to your Party will give a big EXP boost to Eggs of the same species. The Fossil boost does stack with also having a normal hatched Pokémon of that species in your Party, but does not stack with having a second revived Fossil Pokémon in your Party.
  • Team clicklists make it easy to click your teammates multiple times throughout the day as they adopt new parties full of Eggs. If you're only clicking your teammates once a day, you're not using your team's clicklist to its full potential!
  • Even if you've adopted all the Eggs you can from your Daycare and the Shelter, you can still check the Lab for the occasional Egg of your type.
  • Teammates can cooperate with each other by loaning breeding pairs or shelter passes during the Type Race. Just remember to return those loans in a timely manner!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I didn't think organizing clicklists in the forums was allowed?
    • The Type Race team threads are the only exception to this rule.
  • Can players who don't post in the team thread still be added to the team clicklist?
    • Yes, but if someone asks to be removed from the clicklist, their wishes should be respected.
  • How do I break my chain during the Type Race?
    • Hatch an Egg that does not match your chain or your type.
  • What BBCode can I use to show how many points I've earned?

-snip- Does this cause diminishing returns the more Pokémon you add? Or is the only downside less party slots?

From the Wiki:

The "Family Bonus" is a boost gained by eggs if a hatched Pokémon of the same species, or a forme of that species, is present in the party. The boost is 40%, 70% and 110% respectively per Pokémon added to the party. The bonus caps at three Pokémon.
