This gem holds within it a demon that carries their soul and thus their powers. Each person has their own kind of power ranging from basic skills like blacksmithing and archery to magic skills. Gems can range among many shapes and sizes along with color. Though the color will usually correspond to the Alimiran's power. The larger the 'demon' gem the larger amount of power the user has. Depending upon the Alimiran some choose to carry along with them smaller demonless gems to amplify their powers or give them small powers they aren't skilled in. So for example a blacksmith may carry with them a gem proficient in archery if they like to hunt with a bow but are not very skilled in archery. When Alimirans are born the parents offer up their child to the Auskirata, ঔউষকিরতা or chosen, of their race. These chosen are the ones that pair infant Alimirans with their demon and gem. Auskiratas gems tend to be fully clear, typically a diamond or white topaz, and their demons very small. The Auskirata are few and far between as many demon who pair with Alimirans want to have such a small power. Children that are chosen to be as such start to receive training when they reach the age of 8. The choosing ceremony is held in a pool of water with a pedestal in the center of it. When the infant is placed in this pedestal the demons that reside within the pool rise up to circle the child. When a demon has chosen their child they will move to the walls of the cave which contains many bowls with various gems in each bowl. When the demon has chosen the proper gem that it finds suitable for itself and it's new host it will return to the baby and move into it's chest and pull back to the gem with it the child's soul for safe keeping. Once this happens the Auskirata moves the chosen gem to the pedestal with the child. Should an Alimiran be separated from its gem it will become deathly ill until either its gem is returned or the demon within trying to reunited the two shatters the gem and both host and demon die. Occasionally when a child is born the parents will offer a gem from a passed loved one in the hopes that their child's demon will choose that gem. The demons within an Alimirans gem act as guides to the afterlife when an Alimiran passes. On very rare occasions during a child's choosing ceremony two demons will rise from the pool and inhabit the child's gem. When this does happen the gem tends to split into two after the child's soul is transferred over with their demons. Alimirans that have two demons have much greater power than normal Alimirans. If one gem is lost or destroyed the Alimiran will survive but they will be significantly weakened and feel the constant tug of their missing demon and soul half. [b][u]Appearance[/u][/b] All Alimirans have small pointed ears, most choose to decorate their ears with piercings done in gems that match their demon gem. Females range on the smaller side of the height scale from 4' up to 5' 9". As with having two demons there are the few rare Alimiran women who are over the average height. Males tend to be slightly taller than their female counterparts. Ranging from 5' 3" up to 6' 11", smaller males are generally picked on by other males during adolescence. There is no set build for the Alimiran race, each one tends to have a slightly different build than the last. Some very buff while others are tall and lanky. Average lifespan for an Alimiran is 150years. Some with stronger demons have their lives lengthened by the strenght of their demons and will live past the 150 year expectancy.
