Pen and Paper - A Writers Clan
Forum Index > Other > Other Clans >
Welcome to the clan everyone :) you have been added to the list.
Bringing back the question I asked in the previous thread: As writers we create stories, and for those stories we need characters. How would your character deal with situations like we are experiencing right now? With a pandemic or a riot? One of my main OC's, Andy, is a doctor. If I were to write in him a setting similar to what is going on in the world now, he would be working at the hospital to treat the ill or injured.

fevineFølløwer, since you like fantasy:
Everyone is of course to write something based on this prompt and instead of Fantasy it could be used for the Pokémon fandom too, if that is more your thing.
There is an island completely made of rock. A dead island, not a single tree grows on it.
In the middle of that island is a small volcano, it's maybe twice the length of a human, but fire erupts from the volcano regularly.
Strange noises can be heard on the island and the rocks seem to vibrate too, as if something happens underneath
People came up with all sorts of theories, ranging from it just being a small volcana, to it being a chimney for the dwarves who are forging down below, or maybe there is a dragons den below. Or is it an evil mage? Monsters?
Whatever it is, it doesn't seem safe.
...
Could there be treasure?
A fun thing to try might be this "prophecy generator" which can create one of those prophecies that say everything but also really tell you nothing. Might be fun to use this one of these for a story
I got this one out of it "The planet of light foretells war. The dragon star foretells war. The star of the day foretells peace." which could be so many things!
Oh, I like that one :)
I added it to the post of prompts, along with this gem: https://writingexercises.co.uk/
On that website are a lot of prompt generators, for a first line or a plot or character, (town) name,...
And there are writing exercises to be found; it's a website worth browsing if you have the time.
I'm working on my "big list of writing prompts" to better organize them, then I'll share it. It's a lit of over 1000 different writing prompts, 10 categories of 100 ea, ranging from short stories, to poetry, to fanfiction

Native language?: English
In how many languages do you write?: Just English, though i would like to try and write in Spanish when i improve on my Spanish
Storyteller or poet? (or both?): Mostly storyteller. I’ve tried poetry (mainly for my English class), though I’m not good at rhyming.
Original Fiction or Fanfiction? (or both?): Both, mostly fanfics.
What is your preferred genre?: i like all genres for the most part, though mystery and fantasy tend to catch my fancy.
Will you be sharing with us?: most likely.
Is there anywhere we can find your work?: I don’t really post my writings, though if I ever get the courage to, i’d suggest either looking in the Fanfic forums here (likely the Other FF section), and maybe my deviantart (Catbee-Nepeta) or my Wattpad if I find the password to it (Cattafang)
Show us some of your writing!:
for context, right before spring break we had a final assignment to make a continuation to The Odyssey (since we were studying/reading The Odyssey) that was at least a page long. basically, we had to write an Odyssey fanfic in one class period and this is what I came up with. i feel like, so far, this is honesty the best thing i’ve written.
fanfic-wise, i mainly plan on writing eddsworld, Pokémon, and maybe some Homestuck fanfics, since those are really the only fandoms i’m in.

It was nightfall. The stars shone through small holes in the clouds. A young man walked by the shore, looking up at the sky. Thunder quietly roared in the distance as the waves rose and crashed both nearby and far. The man solemnly looked out at the ocean as the crashing of waves seemed to get louder. As he listened, it seemed as if he could faintly hear his mother and father calling out to him. The waves got louder. The calls got louder.
“Telemachus…”
“Telemachus…”
“Telemachus.”
“TELEMACHUS.”
“Telemachus?”
Telemachus yelled and quickly pulled out his longbow, stringing it in less than a
second and pointing it at the voice that came from behind. His wife, Eribas, was behind him, unflinching. Ever since the passing of both his father and mother, the burden of ruling the kingdom of Ithaca had been taken off their shoulders and put on the shoulders of her and Telemachus. While he was quite capable of ruling over these people, the sudden burden of a booming kingdom had started to take its mental toll on the young king (or as young as you would count a 25-year-old to be).
Eribas handed him a fresh roll of bread. “You’ve been out here for quite a long time, Telemachus,” she said. “Lacis and I have been worried about you.” Telemachus put his longbow away and sighed. “Apologies, Eribas.” he replied. “I’ve been... nervous lately.”
“You don’t really think that some estranged son of Antinous is coming to try and assassinate you, do you?” Eribas said, stifling a chuckle at the thought of it. Telemachus looked at her adamantly.
“I want you to remember something, Telemachus: why did Antinous come to the palace in the first place?”
“For my mother’s hand.”
“And why would he want your mother’s hand if he already had a son, dear? Wouldn’t that imply he had some sort of mistress then?”
Telemachus looked at her. She looked back.
“Maybe you’re right,” he said. “But still, it’s better to be safe than sorry. One king has already died this month. Another dying would be a disaster.”
“I know dear. Now come,” Eribas said, walking towards the trail that led back to the palace. “The servants have prepared dinner for ourselves and our husband.” Telemachus followed behind, eating some of the bread his wife had given him as they travelled along the sandy forest path that led back to their pristine, marble palace.
At the same time, far away from the palace, a young man about the same age as the newly crowned king of Ithaca sat at a table in his small farmhouse, a tall figure sitting right across from him. The house itself was quite small, cramped almost. The man looked at the stranger.
“So you say you will help me find and kill the man who killed another man who is apparently my father by blood?” He asked.
The taller man smirked. “Indeed, dear Makhaira,” He answered. “Your dear father, Antinous, was wrongfully murdered by Telemachus, the king of Ithaca. I am asking for you to come with me and join me in rightfully murdering a murderer.”
Makhaira looked at the stranger, hesitant.
“I can make you king, like your father should have been.”
Makhaira thought about it longer, but finally stood up. “Fine. I’ll help you,” The man answered. “But what is your name, stranger?”
The stranger stood up. “I have many names,” He said. “But you can call me by my true name: Poseidon.”
Welcome Cattafang, I'll add you to the memberlist
Wow selocon, that will be a large list. It must be a lot of work to organise it all.
