How to convert from 24-hour time to 12 hour time. 24-hour clocks are used in a lot of places, militaries and para-military organizations like emergency services use them, as do many governments, and a lot of (primarily non-American) transportation systems do so as well. But what if that confuses you, is there an easy way to convert back and forth? Definitely! I'll teach you. First you need a time in 24 hour format. Let's say that's 16:52. Now what? Now, let's look at the hour. If it's greater than 12, subtract 12, otherwise, don't touch it. 16>12 so 16-12 is 4. Now slap the minutes on after it. 4:52. An interesting tidit about 24 hour time is that 12 is noon and 00 is midnight, so now we slap the morning/afternoon identifier on it to get 4:52 PM Therefore 16:52=4:52 PM
