On my laptop that I opened the updated version on I don't even see the file button or the make a copy button

"File" is in the upper left hand corner right under the spreadsheet's name:

Then, if you have your own gmail/drive account, you'll hit "make a copy" and then "OK" on the following pop up:

if you don't have a gmail/drive account, then you'll have to hit "download" instead ^^
