early life in Kalos
Rylee has lived in Kalos until she moved to Conia when she was around 15 years old. Her mother specializes in starter pokemon types and landed a job assisting Professor Sycamore with starter pokémon in Lumiose City. Rylee spent her entire childhood up until the move to Conia exploring her home reigon over and over again. She could easily make it through Kalos with her eyes closed, but believes there’s always something new to find somewhere. She deeply loves her region and is a proud Kalos native.
Rylee and her younger sister have always grown up with pokémon in the house, mainly starter pokémon staying in their house for her mother to study, then given to a new trainer as their starter. Rylee had always been drawn to grass types, and grew very close to a bulbasaur which her family decided to keep as one of their family pokémon. Now a fully grown venusaur, Pickle
Pickle was nameless until after finishing his evolution, when young Rylee finally chose the name after his bumpy skin.
is growing old and doesn’t go on as many adventures with Rylee, however they always have some snuggle time when she’s home. Training with Pickle helped Rylee become very good with other grass types by her side.

After the explosion that caused the massive crater in Geosenge town, Rylee spent some time looking around the area. She had a hunch that the crater was caused by something important and that there might be more going on around there, maybe relating to legendary pokémon.
On her way home from the crater one day, while passing through Reflection Cave to get back to Shalour City, Rylee heard small chirps coming from a narrow passage. She made her way to the end of the passage, still hearing the noise, but unable to see what was causing it after scanning the seemingly empty area. She was about to leave when she heard another chirp, significantly louder than the last. Startled, she turned back around and finally saw who was making the noise- a young noibat, grounded on the floor of the passage with a rock weighing down her right wing. Rylee realized she was looking right at the noibat when she searched for the noise, but didn’t realize she was stuck. This noibat was blue, blending in with the crystals in the floor of the cave.
She was able to get the blue noibat out of the cave and rush back home so her mom to look at the noibat’s wing. The wing was still a little sore, but it wasn’t damaged, and the noibat would be able to fly again after she got some rest. Mom explained to Rylee that this was a rare type of pokémon called a shiny. Rylee had heard of shiny pokémon, but she almost completely forgot about shinies and had never seen any while adventuring. The noibat stayed with Rylee overnight. Rylee was mesmerized by her. She had to release her back to the cave the next morning, so Rylee tried to play and take care of the noibat while she was home. The noibat eventually fell asleep on the pillow Rylee’s head lay on in her bed. The noibat snores sounded like little coos, and Rylee’s heart melted instantly. “ruuu….”
The next morning, Rylee brought the shiny noibat back to the entrance of the cave to set her free. The noibat flew out of Rylee’s hands, just to fly back to her, perch on her shoulder and nuzzle her cheek. Ever since that moment, Rylee and Ru became partners!
