Single post in Sprite Permission Request Thread

I have a small question. You said that fan art of Megas and PFQ Pokemon are permissible. Am I allowed to draw Megas of my OCs (i.e. Mega Dragonite Q for my Delta Dragonite OC) in that same manner? Or do I have to ask permission much like with altering sprites, ignoring that I won't be using sprites except as a reference?
