Note 1: I am not a native english speaker and due to that my english is flawed. While I try to do my best, I don't always succed. So if any native speaker wants to rewrite this guide with better english, he/she is more than welcome to do so! You can post the rewriten guide as a reply or send it to me via personal message. I'll make sure to give you credit in this first Note. Note 2: Not all mechanics regarding IV breeding have been explored yet/ I may not know everything yet. If you can contribute - feel free to do so! Right now there are two things where I don't know how they work yet. And with this being said, let's get started: What are IV's and why should I care for them? IV's or individual values are used to make Pokemon of the same kind have different strengths and weaknesses in Battle. If you don't care about battling, you don't need to care about IV's. In Pokefarm Q those IV's are assigned when an egg hatches and can vary from 0 to 31. Each stat of a Pokemon has it's own IV value and for each IV point, the Pokemon gets additional points in that stat. Once the Pokemon reaches level 100, the bonus points will be the same as the actual IV value. Example given: Your Pokemon has a Speed IV of 16 - therefor it will have 8 bonus points at Level 50 and 16 at Level 100. Your options to manipulate those IV's are limited, however once an egg hatches and the IV's are assigned, they cannot be changed! The only confirmed form of manipulating IV's is breeding. If you don't manipulate the IV's in any form, they will be a totally random number between 0 and 31 How does Breeding manipulate the IV's When Breeding a Pokemon it will inherit 3 random IV stats of it's parents. You can neither manipulate what stat will be inherited (e.g. you cannot say: Please inherit the Speed stat!) nor can you decide if it's gonna be the stat of the father or the mother! Any combination is possible, you can inherit 3 stats of the father, any mix or even 3 stats of the mother. Just to clearify: The inherited stats will be 3 different ones, you won't inherit the Speed stat several times. You can increase the amount of passed down IV's to 5 by using the Destiny Knot. When the egg hatches and one of the parents is holding the Destiny Knot (please note: It doesn't matter when the egg was breed, it's only the moment of hatching that matters) the Pokemon will inherit 5 stats, so that there is only one random stat left. The Destiny Knot doesn't change the fact that all stats might come from the father or the mother, regardless of who is holding the item! Are there other ways to manipulate the IV's? There are no other confirmed ways to manipulate the IV's! There might be an IV boost, seeing how the benefit of master badges isn't known yet. Also there might be a way to trick the inherit system which has yet to be tested: The result of one parent leaving Pokefarm before the egg hatches is unknown/ untested. The only way to make this happen right now is to breed the egg, release one of the parents to the shelter and hope that nobody adopts that parent. IMPORTANT: Pokemon that go to the shelter are free for everyone! If someone adopts the parent you wanted to leave, that's bad luck for you, but there's nothing you can do about that! How do I use this knowledge to improve my IV results? It's hard work, but at least it's simple: You should breed a lot of Pokemon and check their IV stats (they can be seen on the Pokemon's profile page). If the Pokemon has good IV stats, you can use it for breeding. Don't be to greedy though, finding a Pokemon with 2 31's is already lucky! So if you happen to find one, use it - you can even start with lower IV's, but I'd say that anything under 2 29's isn't worth the effort. Once you have a breeding pair (they don't need to be super compatible in this case - because IVs are more important than compatibility) you start breeding. From there on you keep checking the IV's and once you get a Pokemon that has better IVs than it's parents, you use that one to breed again. This way you wll continously get better breeding pairs and therefor better results. And that's basically it. It is important to mention that a Pokemon with 6 IV stats of 31 is VERY unlikely. But if you get a Pokemon that has 6 IVs over 25, you already have a monster in battle! PS.: The Pokemon's nature is unaffected by this - so you may run into bad luck with the pokemon's nature!

In pokefarm specifically, do you think buying the destiny knot is worth it? The only use I've found outside of stats is getting 5IV jigglypuff to breed the guild line.

So 150 IV is pretty good? Because i've got two Pokemon with 1 31 IV and 3 of the other 5 being above 25, both with exactly 150 IVs total

this is a helpful guide! do you know if the power items (like the power belt) can pass IV's down like in the games? also, can you use the everstone to guarantee a good nature is passed down?

Thank you for the guide! Wanted to add a tip: To check a pokemon's IV stats, you don't have to neccesarily go to each and every pokemon's profile page. The easiest way to do it, that I found, is when choosing a pokemon to enter into training, just to hover over the pokemons image with your mouse. This allows you to see the IV of every pokemon in a field in one page instead of going one-by-one.
