Hello, I'm new to this thread! Lemme get some of my thoughts on the table if you guys don't mind. I'll start by saying that I personally don't mind the idea of a tournament based in RNG. I believe it helps newer or more casual users to get into the leaderboard. That's fine! But scouring tournaments and berry harvesting tournaments core issues are not their RNG dependency for me. Scouring tournaments are a nightmare. Their issue is that they encourage the playerbase to destroy their sleep schedule. There are 144 hours (approximately) an a tournament. In order to maintain the leaderboard (if it's got a new egg as the prize that is), you need to be scouring for almost every single one of these hours. That's 7 days without rest... the record in the world is 11 days straight without rest. This article details the effects you get staying up for 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours, and so on. It gets pretty scary. I understand that most users stay on the leaderboard by taking scattered naps or not sleeping straight through the night (waking up to reset scours), but I can't imagine that's any more healthy for them. Most people who naturally wake up often at night feel unrested and oftentimes experience brain slugishness, memory issues, and even increased risk of Alzheimer’s (wth?!) Now, most people will understand the value of their sleep over a silly egg, but some players won't. Dedicated players, players with mental illnesses, and especially children, will be way more willing to do this, even at a detriment to their health. (I saw a lot of minors bragging about not sleeping during this tournament...) I believe this is incredibly irresponsible to leave in the game. I also agree with Tessa that this includes Berry Harvesting tournaments. In case any of you are unaware of how the garden works, there's a maximum of 32 slots. Berry plants yield more berries depending on how often you water them -- the best way to water berries is not allowing the message to every say "damp" or "dry" -- catch them before that. In the case of the tournament, you want to use 8-hour berries in order to maximize your berry output. That means, ideally, you'd have a timer set for every 2 hours to water your berries, and replant them every 4 timers. Do you see an issue here? ... When are you going to sleep? I believe the reason so many players haven't had issues with berry tournaments, is because we haven't had one happen at the opening of a tournament season yet. If/when that happens, we'll likely experience the same struggles that we all did during this scouring tournament -- choosing if we want to maintain our sleep schedule, or if we want to get this dumb egg.
