Animal Crossing New Horizons Log

Week 6

Day 38

I missed a few log entries, but nothing too important happened really. I finally caught the barreleye though! Spent all day farming fish bait and took a plane to a random island in the evening. It's the only background music I can tolerate... And of course I forgot to bring my bait! I was about to head back but since I didn't want the 2000 miles to go to waste I decided to grab some fish anyway. And then I got the barreleye as my third fish! I was so glad I didn't immediately abort mission. Also found a few tarantulas along the way. I spent my entire amount of bells on turnips again today, which wasn't a lot since I was moving bridges around yesterday. And that's what, 129k bells each? Or something around that. I also put away 10 of them immediately, so I don't forgot about it when it's selling time. Although I am in no hurry with catching an ant, might as well wait for halloween for some candy. If there is candy on halloween. But I think there will be. The turnips were also the reason I first took a look at my upper floor and extra rooms! I haven't been there before since I really only need two rooms and never bothered with the others. But I needed space for all the turnips, so... Well, top floor is big. Not sure what to think about that. My rocks are mocking me today. All I want is some stone material but all I get is clay and iron. Usually I hardly get any iron nuggets at all, maybe one per rock if I am lucky. But today... ah well. I got enough materials in stock, it's just a strange thing that I noticed. Haven't seen Julian in a while, I wonder if he is finally working on his floor problem? And Cherry is now singing on the beach, where there is nobody else. Well, nobody but me. Sigh. On that note, is it just me or are the fish harder to scare away now? In New Leaf I used to walk along the water to check for fish, but now I can just run without a worry. That's neat. Although if you're looking for a certain size fish and the others won't disappear unless you run in circles next to them for a bit, it's kind of annoying. I don't understand why everyone dislikes pears? I specifically reset for pears or oranges. First try I got apples, then peaches, and finally pears.

Day 39

So I went to meet Redd today. The new zoom in feature is great and all, but also so inconvenient? Since Redd talks so much. And you can't really see anything because it's rather dark. Great for the immersion, but otherwise, not good. I suppose once you build up your collection you won't even have to check that many art pieces anymore, but still. For now, I don't like it. (Add it to the constantly growing list of things I dislike about this game.) Also, am I the only one who doesn't like the flower crowns? It's a great idea and awesome and all but, the way they sit on top of your head? Like a bird nest that's going to fall off if you walk too fast. It's really cute seeing my three deer villagers hang out together. Fauna and Lopez are actually really talkative, while Erik prefers to sniff the flowers and watch the snails. I am getting a lot of duplicate items by now, be it from balloons, trees, at Nooks Cranny and even from the Nook Shopping. I really rarely see new furniture there, not even different coloured things. It's always the same, feels like I shouldnt even bother looking. And I am not even that far into the game. It's been a bit over a month and there's no new furniture for me? Really? That doesn't seem right to me. There should be enough items in the game to not have to repeat so many things so early already. The entrance area of my island is finally taking shape. It leads up to the museum, which is the next area I need to work on. I kind of know what I want it to look like but at the same time I do not want to make it too fancy. I also want to remove the lake again that I created a few days ago, it just isn't working out at all.

Day 40

Turnip prices are looking good this week, can't wait to see how low they are tomorrow. Doesn't help that I bought them at a rather high price either. Ah well, better luck next week. I am trying really hard to not make everything look symmetrical, since I really enjoy non-symmetrical designs. But it happens almost automatically. I place two flowers on the right side, than another two on the left, always trying to randomly choose the type of flower and placement, but it usually ends up looking almost the same on both sides. So I have to redo a lot of planting. But that's okay, I will get better at it eventually. The lillies in this game look slightly odd. I loved them in New Leaf and had them as my main flower next to my pathways, but now I don't even want that many of them at all. Probably for the best, since I cannot buy their seeds from the Nooklings anyway. I wonder how the letter thing actually works. Like, do I need to write a certain amount, do the words have to make a lot of sense, does it have to be something nice that I write, do they excuse typos? I make a lot of typos I noticed, despite using a pen. I assume it's because I try to write very fast since it just seems like such a waste of time. But it helps befriending the animals, right? I hope so. I want to be best friends with all of my most hated villagers so they can finally tell me that they want to move out. If that is still how it works.

Day 41

Leif is back! I was about to run out of shrub saplings. Now I got a bunch of them in storage, hopefully enough. Anyone know if you can dig them up and plant them somewhere else? Can you believe it, I actually got four new items from the Nooklings today! I am actually very grateful for that. I also got a recipe for a shell fountain today, it's so pretty. But it bugs me that it's 1.5 by 1.5, it always looks a little off because of that. I'm still going to place a lot of them in my island. I think Ed really likes Fauna. Apparently he keeps sending her poems everyday. They seem to be about food and flowers. Very cute. Julian on the other hand was crafting a basement floor today and gave me the recipe. Glad to see he's finally taking things into his own hands. Hooves. Trying to decide whether I want a big fountain, two smaller fountains or a lake with waterfall in front of my museum. Also thinking about a colour scheme, probably going with yellow or orange. I already have a fountain next to Eriks house though, so not sure about that.

Day 42

I actually got a lot done, but it doesn't look like a lot. Watched a lot of videos and browsed through some images of other peoples towns and I can savely say I am not going to go with a lot of those ideas, since I don't want my island to be realistic at all. I was debating on whether I want to move my museum, and if so, where to exactly. But now I am leaving it where it is and started decorating the area around it. Now the problem is what's behind it. You can't really see anything so it's only dead space for now. I'll figure something out later (I hope). Also started working on the path from the resident services to the tailor. Next to it is Nook's Cranny, I am currently considering moving that somewhere else. There's lots of space left. And at the moment, everything is in a straight line. Might be convenient but also very boring. I got a feeling that I got the perfect island. Nobody ever wants to leave. Except for Gonzo, he probably never liked it here. But everyone else.. stays. sigh Then again, nobody is ever coming here, either. The only campsite visitor I ever had was the first one you're forced to invite as villager. I wish I could tell them what a waste of time and effort it was for them to force me to build that thing.
