Before he became a vampire, he was a powerful king, ruling across a vast domain. Afraid of his own mortality, he made a pact with the daedric prince, Molag Bal, and sacrificed a thousand innocents in his name. Molag Bal granted him immortality. Harkon became the progenitor of the Volkihar bloodline.
