Suggestion Title: mark pokemon as favorites Suggestion Summary: i think there should be a mechanic to mark specific pokemon as favorites, and make it so that they can’t be mass released or mass moved Positive points: it would prevent people from accidentally releasing their favorite pokemon, and it would also keep them from accidentally moving them and struggling to search for them again in their fields if they have a lot of that species Negative points: i’m not sure how this would interact with trading- people might want to mark pokemon as favorites but still want to dex trade them Reason For Consideration: i have a habit of adopting starters from the shelter that i find, and recently i reached out to someone whose starter i found who had accidentally released it and thought it was lost forever. i know that this isn’t a unique incident- it’s not even the first time i’ve sent a pokemon back to someone who’s accidentally released it! i think having a way to prevent this would save a lot of users a lot of heartbreak

There was something similar suggested before, can't remember what the response was like/where it was, about "locking" pokemon you have hatched. Meaning you can send them to players for dexing and they can't "accidentally" delta specials, or release them to the shelter, etc. Only the OT can lock them iirc from that suggestion? There's issues with that obviously but it soooort of ties in here :d Maybe a similar system to that suggestion! Tbh I'd love the ability to favorite/soft lock 'mons

follow up of the post above: i believe that this is the thread that you are referring to? (apologies if this adds no valuable contribution to this idea, i just wanted to add this in case this can clear this post / comment above clearer)

As someone who's constantly afraid of accidentally releasing the wrong pokemon, I 100% agree with this.
Planning on hunting for melans eventually; unsure of which ones! Stay safe and have a lovely day :)

i wholeheartedly agree with all of this! i think an easy way to impliment a favorites/locking mechanic while also being able to dextrade with people is by adding a sort of "soft-lock" option where you may trade with anyone but they won't be able to release, give/take items or trade with any user that is not the original owner that soft-locked the pokemon in the first place! (and also you won't be able to gift soft-locked pokemon to anyone either without it giving you an error message since, obviously, the whole point of gifting a pokemon is for that person to become the new owner of said pokemon lol) and i think it would be also nice to have it so you automatically favorite a S/A/M pokemon as soon as it hatches or have new users' starter pokemon be immediately favorited so it doesn't get accidentally released or traded at the start of the game for extreme safety measures, with various configurations to enable/disable any of these settings for those with different needs (for example: enabling automatic locking a melan pokemon but not S/As when hatching)

I agree with all of this. I would die if I released the first shiny I hatched. Also, I think that we should make a way to differentiate the pokemon we favorited and the ones we did not, because I wouldn't be able to tell the diff. between my first shiny (litwick) and another shiny litwick IF I ever got another one.
