Seraphina yawned, stretching her front paws as her trainer gently rubbed her head. They sat together, awaiting their turn in the mini-battle contest going on. After a long career in contests, and having won several together, the pair had decided it was time to have a go at battling. She jumped off of the chair, expecting to be able to play. Flicking her gaze around, her eyes settled on a small Piplup. Her head tilting, she bounced over towards it with a yip! Yay! Someone she could play wi-- bubbles in her face. She fell backwards as she was hit with a Bubble Beam. The Fennekin scrambled to her feet and whined at her owner. “It’s a battle, Fina! Use a Quick Attack!” Came the reply from the trainer. Oh! That made more sense! With a yap, she turned to face the Piplup again, dashing towards it and attacking as she was told, only to instead face the consequences. Those consequences were a Peck to the head and a Water Gun to the side. She shook it off, following her trainer’s next commands and dashing behind the Piplup, using Flame Wheel and causing a large plume of smoke. In her naivety, Seraphina had believed she won, bouncing up and down, yapping excitedly. She faced her trainer, leaving her back exposed to the smoke. A gust of wind cleared the smoke, revealing the Piplup wielding a Whirlpool. CRASH. She fell to the floor, defeated. This wasn’t just a physical defeat, but also a mental one. A defeat of embarrassment. It was then and there that she decided she was going to do her best to get back at the Piplup. To defeat them in a battle and prove that she could, even after a defeat like that!
