🍄Delta Breeding and You: Guide for Types & Genetics🍄

      What Are Deltas?

Delta pokemon have a type that is different from regular pokemon of that species; for instance, a fire delta chansey is fire type rather than normal type. Delta pokemon have a glow corresponding to their type and a δ of the same color next to their name. By default, delta pokemon have a single type. The sole exception is if the non-delta pokemon of that species has that type as a single type, in which case the delta version is a double type. They cannot have three types. For instance, magikarp is a water-type pokemon, so the delta water version is double water type. If a non-delta pokemon has two different types, all of its delta species will have single types. If a non-delta pokemon changes from a single type to a double type, its delta counterpart will change from a double to single type when it evolves. For instance, a non-delta apocalyptic growlithe is fire type, and it evolves into a fire/fire type. The fire delta apocalyptic growlithe is fire/fire type, and evolves into a fire type.

      Delta Points

Delta pokemon are obtained by spending delta points at the Holon Research Tower. The amount of delta points required to delta-type a pokemon is directly proportional to the exp required to hatch the egg: 5 delta points per 1,280 exp. Delta points are accumulated in the Holon Capacitor, which can be purchased from the Holon Research Tower for 150,000. You can see how many delta points you have in the currency window by clicking the triangle next to your amount of zc. There are two ways to acquire delta points: being clicked by logged-out users and trading in shiny, albino, and melanistic pokemon. Each logged out user (determined by IP address) that clicks you gives you one delta point, with the limitation that you can only get up to 10 delta points a day, and that each IP address can give out only one delta point per day (so the same IP address can't give two people a delta point each). For this reason, trading delta points isn't practical. Trading in shiny, albino, and melanistic pokemon does not contribute to the daily cap of 10 points, and there is no limit to how many delta points you can accumulate via this method. The number of delta points received is again directly proportional to the exp required to hatch the pokemon: 1 delta point per 1,280 exp for a shiny, 2 per 1,280 exp for an albino, and 200 per 1,280 exp for a melan. So basically you need to trade in 5 shinies or 2.5 albinos for 1 delta of the same species, which is useful in melan hunts when you get a lot of spare shinies and albinos.

      Breeding and Hatching Deltas

One factor that feeds into the delta type of a pokemon is the V-wave, which increases the chance that the delta will be the same type. At present I'm not sure if it's the V-wave on the day it's delta-typed or the V-wave on the day it's hatched that matters, but most of the time it's the same anyway. The second known factor that affects delta type is breeding. If one parent of the egg is of a different species, the egg has an increased chance of being the same type as that parent. If the parent has two types, 2/3 of that chance goes to the parent's primary type (the first type listed in the pokemon's entry), and 1/3 goes to the parent's secondary type. Therefore, if you're going for a specific type, it's best to use a parent with a single type. The stats in the chart below are rough estimates derived from a sample of 115 deltas I hatched; it's possible the chances are supposed to be 1/3 breeding, 1/3 v-wave, 1/3 random. If anyone takes more data or gets info from staff please post, but for now here are estimated chances for deriving a type from a single-typed parent, the primary or secondary type of a dual-typed parent, and/or the v-wave. Again, the parent has to be a different species from the egg.
      SinglePrimarySecondaryV-waveChance
      NoNoNoYes28%
      YesN/AN/ANo37%
      N/AYesNoNo25%
      N/ANoYesNo12%
      YesN/AN/AYes65%
      N/AYesNoYes53%
      N/ANoYesYes40%
Delta pokemon do not pass their types onto their delta offspring, at least of the same species. I don't know of any experiment with a delta parent of a different species. Wishforge badges, field type containing parents, and parents holding gems also does not affect delta type. Delta pokemon have an equal chance of hatching shiny, albino, or melanistic as non-delta pokemon.

      Best pokemon for breeding deltas

I've put together a table of the best pokemon to pass a type to their delta offspring, separated by egg group. For the best chance of getting a specific type, combine breeding with the v-wave. Pokemon with no preceding number have a single type (and have the greatest chance of passing that type onto delta offspring); 1 indicates primary type and 2 indicates secondary type. If the pokemon has multiple types the other types are noted. I'm still not sure if it's the pokemon's type or its basic evolution's type that counts, so if the type only belongs to the evolution, the pokemon is in parentheses.

      Delta Type Effects

Delta pokemon don't always follow ordinary rules when it comes to types. I've outlined different situations where type generally comes into play, and where deltas fit in, below: Exp gained as egg: Delta'd eggs do not gain any type-based bonuses to exp, so it's best to delta them right before hatching (as long as you don't forget) Exp gained after hatching: Delta pokemon benefit from type-based bonuses according to their delta type Gems: Delta pokemon yield the same gem types as their non-delta types. Type race: Delta pokemon count as their non-delta types for type race points. Evolution items/fields: Delta pokemon evolve in the same way non-delta pokemon of the same species do. Wishforge evolutions: Delta pokemon count as their delta types for wishforge evolutions, and not as their non-delta types. Field affinity: Delta pokemon use the affinity of their delta type or non-delta type, whichever is more preferable. For instance, a fire magikarp and water charmander will become happy in a fire or water field, even though a water type would become unhappy in a fire field. I have found exceptions to this, but I believe it is a glitch similar to how Glaceon does not become happy in an ice-type field Battles: Delta pokemon have the same weaknesses as their non-delta types, but can use moves designated for their delta types.

      Unanswered questions

Does a pokemon with a different type than its basic stage pass on its typing or the typing of its basic stage? (Tentative answer: basic stage typing) What about a pokemon that's undergone a forme change? (Same tentative answer) Which type does a delta pokemon of a different species pass on? (Tentative answer: non-delta type) What is the exact boost that v-wave and breeding provide? Are there any other ways to influence delta types? Ideas: pokemon/deltas in party (probably not), type race team (probably not) If I've made a mistake somewhere or you have any information to add, post and I'll correct/add it.

      EHP/EXP of Pokemon

I haven't seen one of these around, so I figured I'd make one! Have you ever wanted to start a hunt, but haven't realized just how much EHP an egg takes to hatch until you actually start hunting? Well, look no further! This guide has every PFQ egg sorted by EHP, categorized so you can go directly to the specific region or open up the table and hit ctrl+f. Either way, it's all here, including the newest exclusives and variants!

        Heartless of Glimwood Tangle

        written by Knock Out

Travel to the Tangle, you leave your things outside. The equine inside, their territory they preside. For one never leaves the Tangle with spoils abound As one walks, but do not talk. The spirits dont hinder, but many have found, They feel, dont see, ones usually walk. As you travel deeper, dont use the light, your soul will show you the way, but do not let it leave your sight. The equine that resides, has given many a fright, Heartless, stone cold, it will not hesitate to enroach a blight. Corruption abound, disease to spread, leaves a human, alone and dead. the curse to many, a bane to dread, fills one sight with disease ahead. Behave when in presence of the Heartless, rare one may escape the sight. Leave the Tangle from which you entered, unless you desire, the haunting and smite. If you travel into the Tangle, be sure to leave a surprise, The Heartless do not mind, until they be your demise.

        Genetic Mutations

Selective 'Heartless' Breeding - Heartless Galarian Ponyta / Rapidash

Grimmsnarl - Human-Like / Fairy Mawile - Human-Like / Field = Mawile carrying the recessive Grimmsnarl Hair genetics, enabling the Mawile to extend their 'jaw set' on their head as if it is an appendage all on its own. The coloration resulting from this would be a interspecie blend, giving the Grimwile the 'vitiligo' look. Resulting Pokemon Variant: Grimwile

Mawile - Human-Like / Field Galarian Rapidash - Field = The resulting Galarian Rapidash would have the recessive trait carried over from the Grimwile, and as a result, have the overgrown hair contort and move autonomously due to the Rapidashs' psychic ability. Due to the manipulation of the Heartless specie, this is one of the ways Grimmsnarl is able to be bred into Galarian Ponyta
        Evolves into Rapidash
, giving form and way to a Heartless variant. Resulting Pokemon Variant: Rapidile

        ~

Heartless are a variant species, given as a sort of 'umbrella label' due to their looks, abilities, and behaviors. Many will show aggression, violence, as may end up being one of the more volatile variants that one can rarely come across. There have been stories, poems, fairytales about these Heartless creatures, and none should paint these variants as a 'nice'. One false move, or slip up, and you will end up missing.
