Please note that any fee for a Gym on top of the one for setting up a battle in the Dojo is not permitted. This includes fees to battle and fees if you lose to the Gym. However, you are welcome to reward the victorious challengers. 1.) A Gym Leader must have 6 pokemon ready to battle for main Gym team. -- This does not mean all 6 must be used in a Gym battle, it simply means there are six pokemon to interchange for challengers. Even canon gyms are not all 6v6 battles! 2.) Must have a Gym Badge ready to distribute -- Badge must fit within a 24x24 canvas. This is the same size as inventory items. -- Gym Badges must have proof of permission linked on the Gym's thread. This is to prevent the stealing of images, shrinking them to fit the size requirement, and using them without permission of the original artist. 3.) To be considered a Gym it must be posted in the Gyms Subforum. 4.) A Gym must be defeatable with enough work and thought. Impossible Gyms are no fun. -- Underling Trainers
These are trainers you must defeat within the Gym before attempting the Gym Leader. These people should be clearly stated on the Gym's thread similar to how Thread Helpers or Clan Officers are.
are allowed as long as they can be coordinated properly. 5.) Gyms are welcome to have a badge requirement. -- I.e: Defeat X Gyms before challenging. 6.) Gyms are allowed to set reasonable battle conditions, including number of Pokemon (up to six), whether or not Megas or Legendaries are permitted, and whether gems may be used. This includes several "tiers" within a single Gym. 7.) Minor roleplaying is allowed. Excessive roleplaying is not. This isn't the RP forums. "Flavour text" is fine, but roleplay for the sake of roleplay is not. Please make sure that if you're going to do this that it serves a purpose. 8.) A user may only run one Gym thread. Battle/Gym Forum Bumping Rule; Two days (48 hours) ↳ If there's an important update you may bump the thread with the announcement. After the announcement you won't be able to bump for another two days. Keep this in mind. Battle/Gym Forum Deletion Rule; 2 months Inactivity ↳ A Gym will be deleted after 2 months of inactivity. The thread may be retrieved by the leader if desired; please provide the Moderator you PM with a link to the Gym. These rules may be edited or changed at staff's discretion so please make sure you check back for any updates. Last Updated:
  • April 6, 2019: - Clarified that each user may have one (1) Gym, included a comment on 'tiers' within Gym threads, updated information about when Gyms are deleted for inactivity.
  • June 2, 2017: - Clarified when double-posting is allowed in the Gym Forum. This information was previously available on the thread regarding Bump Times.
  • May 6, 2017: - Added addendum to rule regarding badges and permissions for their use. - Clarified the rule regarding having 6 pokemon on hand for battling.
  • May 2, 2017: - Removed section erroneously referring to the Gym Leaders Syndicate.
  • October 7th, 2018: - Made note that excessive roleplaying is not allowed - And clarified the meaning behind it a little bit.

Does a gym have to have an established type? Could it perhaps be a gimmick instead? (Example: Man-Made Pokémon gym, Pokémon from Space gym, etc.)

No. A Gym Leader may choose whatever type of pokemon they wish to use. If you apply a type to this sort of Gym it would be considered "Misc".

The following is still being enforced.

Hi, is it allowed to reserve a forum thread for editing and slowly building up the gym thread and to announce the opening once it's done?

Yes, so long as it is locked and no challenges are being taken during that time. Please be aware that if the thread is not opened within 2months it will be removed along with other Gyms that have been inactive for that period of time.
Just noticed the last post was on my birthday... Reguarding the gym's establishment, Can a badge be referenced to another franchise? Not planning on stealing anything, Just wanting to know if I can invert the triforce from the Legend of zelda games and actually add colors of my own instead of the triditional gold for the badge.

I would suggest using an exact inverted Triforce, just in case of copyright fears, but basically... inverted triangles are shapes. The Tri-foce is a well known shape and in the end, there are many Not-Triforce shapes that can be used for a triangular Badge. Consider a triskilian or perhaps even something like the Valknut (Google them; pretty cool Nordic background in the history of a Valknut)! The best part is that they are both types of images that are not franchised~

I'm wondering, are we allowed to put things in our gyms that make them somewhat like the Gyms from Pokemon games? I was thinking of either using the Roulette feature from the Battle Arcade or a Pokemon Quiz like the ones from Hearthome and Lumiouse City gyms Also, you said we can make our own rules in our gym, as long as they don't make it impossible to defeat the gym, does that include a rule about what type of Pokemon the challenger can use? I don't mean like legendaries or Megas, I mean making challengers using Poison-type Pokemon in a Steel-type Gym
