Sprite Discovery Discussion

ok, a bit late now, but ive been thinking about the sprites for the new paradox mons they all look great! very nice and fierce. i really love sandy shocks and i 100% need one, but... (in my buglover opinion,) Not a big fan of the slitherwing sprite personally! I wish it was less of an edit of Volcarona(the face). the shapes of the face feel off and also it looks really tiny especially next to my other pokemon(usually completely dwarfs volcarona). None of the other sprites are taking from the og sprite like this, so its a little disapointing for me cuz i love slither wing haha its just a personal critism, i dont want to upset anyone who worked on them! but he looks a bit off to me while the rest are great and fresh i wish he was HUUUGE at least! or the wings were spread or something. to show the guy's features off better heheh

I am so incredibly grateful that the Skiddo line colour palettes weren't changed too much, and I love the new expression on the face, it's everything a Skiddo should be <3

I'm a bit sad that albino Noibats turned from the soft cream to a green - after I hatched two back to back and named them Butterscotch and Cinnamon But the mint green is still very nice and I changed their names to match ^^

I like the new sprites for the kalos 'mons, but the reason I was hunting for a shiny noibat was because it was kind of pink-ish, and now it's got blue undertones ^^" The new albino noibat colors pair very well with each other, and I love how the normal form has a better contrast between colors like the head and the ears, but in my opinion it feels like quite a few albino forms go the blue-ish undertones route, and personally I feel like sometimes a pink color would be more fitting. ^.^ A few Pokémon that have switched from a warm palette to a cold palette (when in my personal opinion I think the warm palette was more fitting) that I can think of are:

• Noibat
• Pidove
• Woobat
• Bunnelby

Is there a reason for them changing to cool undertones? I really like how some albinos use blues or greens, and I don't think the new noibat recolors are bad at all!! I just preferred the pink, and specifically hunted it for that reason because my girlfriend likes the color pink and bats ^^" I really like Albino Zangoose, Typhlosion, meganium, Talonflame, Samurott, and the entire elemental monkey lines. I think Simisage/Simisear/Simipour's albinos are very smart!!! The color swaps are soooo cute :] My post isn't about anything important like a pixel art or contrast/color blind issue, just my personal input on the color palette swaps!!

I liked the old noibat albino, but I think the new one is neat as well! Though I think it would be cute if there were still some hints of pink! Of course, that wouldn't match up with the shiny and original, so I understand why it wouldn't be that way. I think it just looks so good on the noivern that I'm loving the idea of it on the noibat as well. I do think it's a shame that the melans are a bit darker now, though. It actually makes it harder for me to see the details, which is unfortunate. But I actually wanted to comment on a less recent sprite: Albino Flutter Mane. It is unreasonably darker than albino misdreavus, which is a shame, because albino misdreavus is gorgeous! I personally am just not a fan of that shade of pink in general, but also, it just isn't accurate to misdreavus/flutter mane in general. The shiny actually has the same problem. For instance, here are the normal sprites: Normal Fluttermane is actually very similar to misdreavus, even slightly more saturated! And when it comes to in-game: Flutter mane is actually lighter than misdreavus. If anything, it seems like the colors on the shiny sprites here should be switched. Idk it's just a shame, because I really like albino misdreavus and was super excited to get flutter mane, but the color is just so different and not in line with the canon color difference between the two. :(

I will point out that staff has said that they use the HOME sprites for colour decisions, since they aren't impacted by lighting. So there we can actually see that flutter mane is actually a bit darker than misdreavus

just a head's up- iirc shazi said in the discord that they are planning to do revamps of pokemon that got paradoxes, i think for consistency, so it's likely misdreavus itself will get an update. there will be an announcement before that happens

Honestly, looking at both those and the texture files themselves, the first being flutter mane, and the second being misdreavus, I still can't see flutter mane as being darker. It may just be that I inherently view olive tones as darker. But it's still definitely not as dark as the sprite here is! The sprite seems to take more of the olive coloring of misdreavus. Ah, I do think I remember hearing that, but I hope albino misdreavus doesn't change too much, I'd be extremely disappointed if it was changed to be in line with flutter mane's color. :( It's gorgeous the way it is. I'd much prefer flutter mane just be changed to fit albino misdreavus.

The albino and melan for Iron Moth, good lord... Combined with Slither Wing and the normal current-time duo, the Volcarona family might have the best specials on site now.

Wow, the specials for the Irons are looking fantastic. Maybe I'll mass breed Larvestas or Larvitars soon, though I already have a few hunts planned already beforehand.
