The Lobby (Ivy Chateau FFA)
Forum Index > Pokémon > Pokémon RP >
This room exists for all interested in the Ivy Chateau, be they a current or a new prospective writer! Anyone can drop in and drop out here at any time (though obviously it helps if you let other writers know your character is leaving in the post) but by and large, anything can happen here! All I ask is that we obey the normal fanfiction rules; if things happen contrary to the setting/canon that's no issue. The point is to try out your character and see what you like...
Welcome to the Lobby!
...and have fun!

A Gardivoir and a human approach the castle-like hotel building. The Gardivoir has a shoulder bag. The human is a young woman wearing a business suit and sneakers. She pulls a pamphlet out of her pocket to check that they were in the right place. The Gardivoir pulls out a notebook, flips through it, stops on a page and shows it to the woman. "Creepy?" The woman asks. "No it's not. It's just got a lot of character, Juliet. I thought we agreed that you'd at least give this place a try while I was doin my interviews." Another round of flipping and a new page. "I highly doubt you'll be bored. Besides, the pamphlet says it's mostly run by pokemon." The woman says waving the pamphlet at the pokemon. Juliet flips a couple more pages, turns the notebook and points at the human. The human smiles, pats the Gardivoir on the shoulder and says, "Thanks for the concern but I won't be lonely while you're here. I caught a few pokemon on the way here, remember? They might be new to the group but they're part of the family now." Juliet still felt concerned but she nods and shows a new page. "Alright. Let's get in there and check out the inside." They get to the door and open it. Inside they see a comfy looking lobby. There was even a piano. They walk over to front desk. "Good afternoon," the human calls. "We'd like to ask about my Gardevoir stayin here."

The hotel's resident human, still dressed in his workout clothing and idling away his time on the reception desk computer, finally turned his head towards the entrance. Talon had been playing away on the piano for nearly an hour now, and the few guests eating didn't seem the social sort. The music and dim lighting painted a sleepy scene, one he'd been tempted to give in to since waking up. Unfortunately, his services were needed. "Howdy." He replied automatically, the eagerness his Pokemon expected of him completely absent. Clearing his throat, he manages to fake some enthusiasm on the second try. "Hello!" Sitting up in the chair, he addresses the Trainer in the pair. "Did you happen to set up your visit online?" He asks, mostly rhetorically - no one yet had known they even had a website. He shuffles around in one of the drawers, pulling a stapled set of papers down, and a pen shortly after. "If not, we'll need this information. It may take a moment to fill out, as the more you offer in way of information the better, so if you'd like to take a seat be my guest. Your Pokemon is welcome to wander in the meantime." He gestures to the couches across the room, sweeping his hand over to the dining area opposite the entrance. "Any questions, let me know."
The trainer stifled a giggle and proceeded to fill out the paperwork. "Hi there. My name is Sansu. And this is Juliet. We are relatively new to Unova. I haven't quite decided which city I'd like to live in. I've just been wandering and putting in applications for various jobs I've seen available. Nimbasa is my next stop." She shrugged. "The only question I'd have is how did you came up with the idea for this place?" She waves the pen in a small circle. Juliet pulls out her notebook and flip it to an embellished page with the word greetings. She shows the book to the human. She turns the book around to another embellished page. 'It's a pleasure to meet you' it says. She waves and then walks over to the piano. <what a great song.>
Propping his head on his arm, Ketzal's other hand illustrates his words with vaguely related hand motions, something he's clearly not consciously doing. "Nimbasa's great for tourism jobs, and that's about it. Sports and musicals, that's what we do here. Bright lights and noisy nights, hence, this. It wasn't my idea at all though. Frappe's a Cinccino, they're herd animals. Since I don't keep her in a ball and can't take her with me to my job, this sorta developed through necessity." He shrugs. His eyes wander over as the notepad's flipping breaks the quiet. Reading, he chuckles once and waves back. Once the Gardevoir walks off he turns back to her Trainer. "Aren't they telepathic?" Talon looks straight up as she hears the new voice (despite Juliet being beside her), nearly toppling off the bench with a surprised squeak. She manages to recover, throwing both arms forward to balance herself, slamming them down on the keys and creating an awful mess of notes. The music continues on, the phone on top of the piano continuing to play the base of the melody without her simple accompaniment. <Oh!> She chirps, looking from the Gardevoir to the keys, pausing, and then back up with a bright grin. <Thanks! I'm the entertainer!>
"My photography skills might come in handy then." Looking over the paperwork. Sansu looks up for a moment. "Normally, yes but a few years ago, when she was still a ralts and we were still in Kalos, there was an incident with a Malamar..." Sansu goes quiet for a moment as she remembers. She waves off the thought as she hands the finished papers to the worker. "Nasty business, that. She never recovered her telepathy after that. Here ya go. I think I got everything." She looks over at Juliet chatting with the minccino at the piano. "My mom's Alakazam came up with the idea of teaching Juliet reading and writing and even teaching her to speak. She hasn't figured out the last part but she's real proud of what she was able to learn." Juiet smiles. She didn't intend on startling the small pokemon but that was just how it was being bigger. <That sounds like fun. I'm more partial to readin and cookin myself.> she sits down near the piano. <Could you play some more please?>
"Huh." Ketzal mumbled, turning away from the disrupted pianist to check over the paperwork. "That's pretty rough. Especially for a pokemon that's supposed to be so devoted to its Trainer." He remarks to himself, a note of awe in his voice as he considers the concept. He sits upright again, grabbing the corner of the set just to slowly drop the pages back into place, lightly scanning them for any obvious issues. Finding nothing of concern, he pats his hand down on it. "Looks good. I'll put it through the system once it floats back over here. As for the rest..." Looking back up at Sansu, he counts off on his hand: "One, if you're looking for a photo spot, the Ferris Wheel has the best sights in town, without question. Two, you might want to look into LSL for her for rainy days - literally rainy. She should have enough digits to use it." The Minccino pats the bench beside her. <Yeah yeah! You can sit here if you want, I only use like-> She holds both arms fully outstretched to each side, managing not even half of the piano's width. <-this much at once, so there's room!> Standing up she leans over the keys, pulling down the phone to swipe at it until the music changes. She listens for a moment, then swipes again: another few notes, another swipe, until she finally settles on a new, softer song with a violin introducing the piece. The phone is carefully returned to its perch, and she slides over to the higher end of the keys. As she holds her paws up to begin, she stops. Then she looks over, a look of shock across her face. <You READ?>
Sansu smiled and nodded. "I'll definitely have to look into that place. We aren't normally out on rainy days but that's a good idea." Sansu took a mental note of it. "Is there anythin else you need from me before I go?" Juliet moves to the bench. <Sure can.> she says pridefully. Giggling at the little mouse's reaction. <It comes in handy sometimes. Like when my trainer is late and I'm hungry. Or like when i read the interesting brochure for this hotel.>
Turning back to the computer screen, Ketzal replies, "Did you want to pay now or when you pick up? After that, you're good to go check out the town. We'll take good care of your Gardevoir for you." He concludes with the customary service smile. Talon crosses her arms and faces the piano, sulking. <If I knew reading fixed hunger I would've actually tried.> The mild annoyance passes practically instantly, and a half-second later she looks down at the keys with joy anew. <Oh, this is my part!> She whispers, starting with a slow, drawn-out set of notes as she reacquaints herself with the new octaves at her beck and call. Beginner-level patterns that she hums a more complex tune alongside, gradually translating her hummed song into the actual piece she plays alongside it.
"Oh, if it's alright to pay when I get back that'd be great. I have no doubt that she'll be fine here. Bye for now." Sansu waves at the man and the walks over to Juliet. "Alright I'm off now. Be good." She giggles and waves goodbye to her. Then she goes on her way. Juliet also giggles and waves back. Then tries to hum along with the song. <I don't think I've heard this song before... is it new?> she asks as she taps along with the beat. <I like it.>
