When a mysterious pokemon lost to legend threatened the world, one that even Arceus themselves could not combat- The world was thought to be doomed. Pokemon and trainers alike prepared for the total destruction of their world, and the pokemon world decended into havoc. It was only when three strange Reniclus's started planning that the world opened its eyes.
The three each took a third of the world, and began training Pokemon to give it's energy to a relic. Once the pokemon gave as much energy as it could, they would go out to encourage more to donate. Within only a few months the three had gathered enough energy to begin the containment of this mysterious pokemon.
Each took the relics and met at the very center of the world. Eldermarrow. They called on Arceus, and used the god to lure the pokemon to Eldermarrow. Releasing the stored energy of the relics, the pokemon was contained in a powerful floating ball of energy above the town. Upon the release of the energy, only the closest creatures were harmed. The closest being the three.
One of them, named North, took the brunt of the force. He unfortunately died. The next brother, named Spire, lost his sight from the impact. The final brother, who had been the farthest away, only lost some of his strength. The final one is known as Gloom.
Upon finding about North's death, Arceus granted him life once more. North is now a Ghost type, but no one knows where he is, though it is rumored he hides in the dungeon underneath Eldermarrow.
After the mysterious pokemon was contained, it was found pokemon and trainer's could bond closer if they trained in Eldermarrow. Scientists discovered it came from the energy containing the pokemon. Bonds can become so the trainer can temporarily use a Pokemon's moves, simple telepathy, or even- Spirital Merging. (like Ash-Greninja!)
A way was found to harvest the energy and use it to power the city. Through steam. The city floats, with bridges connecting the place. It does have a high tempurature, and near the entrance to Eldermarrow is a shop specifically dedicated for overheated pokemon, or ice types.
The most efficent way to get around is flying type pokemon. Expect heavy foot traffic through the city. You can find many shops however, and plenty of quests!
The city is Steampunk themed, but they do have electricity, it's just limited. Most of the power comes from the steam. Most lights are firelights, and some Lampents take care of laterns to light the city.
The ball of energy can be seen in the center of the city, but it cannot be touched. A barrier separates it from the world, and touching it burns your hand. It is described as a swirling rainbow, and faintly glows.
When pokemon fight in the arena, the ball of energy will glow brightly, and will glow brighter when pokemon use their moves.
