What are Contests?

Contests are events that take place on PFQ every week. Each week, 3 days are devoted to players being able to enter their pokemon into the contest after dressing them up, followed by 3 days of voting, where the winner is announced and there is finally one day break before the next contest begins.

How do they work?

Contestants are scored based on three criteria: Appeal: These points are calculated based on the pokemon's contest stats (Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, Tough) based on the contest type. For example, if the contest is a Beauty contest, then a pokemon with a high Beauty stat will be given more points than a pokemon with a low Beauty stat. Visual: When entering, a player dresses a pokemon up with various Accessories. Each Accessory can give low, medium, or high scores in accordance to the contest theme. For example, if the theme is "The Natural", then an accessory like a Tree will give high points whereas an accessory like Peculiar Spoon will give low points. Popularity: Popularity points are assigned by PFQ players during the voting period. The more votes a design gets, the more points the entry receives.

So How do I Win?

The best way to win contests is to ensure that a pokemon has a max appeal of a singular stat (for if there are multiple high stats, this will detract from the score of the contest type appeal), use only Accessories that will grant high points, and use your own judgment to create an aesthetically appealing design. … Pokeblock Guide …

Each pokeblock also has a feel stat. "Feel" refers to how much sheen a pokemon acquires when eating each pokeblock. When a pokemon reaches max sheen, it can no longer consume pokeblocks, and thus their stats cannot be adjusted. The only way to reset sheen is to feed your pokemon a black pokeblock (which can be purchased in the Tournament Prize Shop) which will reset both sheen and all stats. Note: Sheen is only a way to measure how many pokeblocks a pokemon can consume. The level of sheen does not impact the score of a pokemon at all. If you have 50% sheen or 100% sheen, the appeal score will remain the same.

Tips for Berry Blending

Nothing guarantees a + block, as it relies on RNG. However, there are certain things that can boost chances of obtaining a Pokéblock+ such as:

• Have a high RPM when you finish
• Get no misses
• Obtain an RPM of 100+
• Get 5+ perfect hits in a row
• Get 15+ perfect hits overall

Tips for Popularity Vote

While the popularity vote cannot be perfected, there are certain trends that I found while reviewing contest winners that may be beneficial for how you decorate your pokemon. Remember that these are just general suggestions, and that anyone can still appeal with whatever fashion they prefer. High-Scoring Trends Placing decorations in a symmetrical way, especially if it makes a circle. Matching the colors to the pokemon chosen. Using a variety of items rather than the same of a single type. Examples of high-scoring pokemon: x x x Mid-Scoring Trends Asymmetry. Monochromatic/using a single color.
