boxes

boxes are your best friend on this site if you're f2p. they are by and large the easiest way to make free currency. invest in 2 scour slots and 2 scour boosts (the max amount of each) as soon as you can. this maximizes your chances of your pokemon obtaining boxes each hour, given they're scouring with high energy and in their favorite scour area. boxboxes can be made with 21 regular boxes and they regularly sell for 100-120 Zophan Canisters

on the forums. on the market board, they regularly go for 600,000-700,000 Credits

, which can get you enough funds for the pokeradar in one fell swoop!

hunting

unless you want to hunt full odds, the pokeradar is essential for shiny hunting. as a non-hypermode player, it allows you to boost your odds to 1/600 by continually hatching the same species of egg. it's a steep purchase off the bat at 650,000 Credits

, but you can make this very easily by simply selling a boxbox on the market. if you by chance want to hunt melanistic pokemon, invest in hypermode before you start. melanistic pokemon are VERY rare, only occurring when a pokemon hatches BOTH shiny and albino, and hypermode provides you a massive boost by allowing your shiny odds to boost up to 1/200. for reference, hunting with full boosts without hypermode (minus long chain bonuses) gives you melanistic odds of 1/4500, but hunting with hypermode and full boosts (minus long chain bonuses) gives you melanistic odds of 1/1500.
