mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmwhy is everyone in the pmd universe named their species name
like they bring it up multiple times in the series that it's confusing because everyone is named the same + it's hard to tell ppl apart
like??? why tho???? why cant pokemon have their own names??? why is your partner the only pokemon in existence that has a Name(tm)?
they have a whole society they're a part of, a whole economic system, an entire system dedicated to trouble solving and rescuing
but they dont got names?????
they have organizations with names, shops with names, named locations and items and a full language
but they aint???????????????? got names?????????? for themselves??????????
also dont even get me started on the discomfort of going from pmd with fully sentient pokemon who have their own society and complex lives as independent, intelligent beings to mainstream games where they're at best Smart Animals that are encouraged to be Captured/Owned/Defeated
i know its a meme at this point w/ the ethics of pokemon but hoo boy the older u get the harder it is to ignore it jfksdKLJFSDGKLJ
Suggestion Title: Allow Spoilers in Journals [under 2 conditions]
Oh boy, first suggestion O|-<
TL;DR: If someone quotes a post with a spoiler in a hidebox, they have been spoiled, since they'll be able to see the text content of the hidebox.
While it may be common sense for someone familiar with BBCode that this would happen, remember, there's a lot of younger users and users not familiar with it that wouldn't know this is a risk until it's too late.
Double hideboxes are fine on the spoiler thread, however, since a user has to knowingly accept there are spoilers in the thread merely by entering the thread itself.
So, I propose journals should work the same way. If a user's journal warns there are spoilers in the journal, and the spoilers in the journal are under properly labeled double hideboxes, I see no reason why (if done properly) this would be any more risky than the Spoiler Thread's existence.
Summary:
My suggestion is to allow users to post spoilers to their personal journals under two conditions:
1. The journal title must clearly be labeled as having spoilers, such as "My Journal! [SPOILERS]", as one would do for a pg-13 journal or thread.
2. The spoilers must be in double hideboxes, both clearly labeled as containing SWSH spoilers.
Explanation:
I've always been confused on the strictness of the current spoiler policy, especially when it came to disallowing spoilers under properly labeled hideboxes in your own journal. Thanks to Belial (who has been very patient with my 4890320 questions about spoilers/policies/etc ;v;) I learned the official reason why this was not good enough for a spoiler-free site:
in text, if the image is hard to read
QUOTE originally posted by Belial
The Spoiler Policy has been no hide boxes for a long time, even from well before my time joining staff. It's something I've had to crack down a bit on since there seems to be a widespread misconception that double hide boxes are acceptable, but that's how it goes. As for the reason why? It's not about the hideboxes, plain and simple. Posts get quoted, and people can look at the contents of the post code while they're responding. What if someone who doesn't want to see spoilers comes along, quotes a post with spoiler hideboxes in it to give a friendly, "hey what is this box that says hide on it" or "hey there's a spoiler thread with lots of people talking about this" and then notices the code within the post has "wooloo.png" in img tags? Well, now that person has had something spoiled, even if it was just a name. The spoiler tags gave away that it was a spoiler. That person never had a chance to avoid the spoiler and they were just trying to be nice or ask a question. You see what I mean? So, spoiler content goes only in the spoiler thread, and that's because you know what you're in for especially so if you go into that thread to begin with.
Pros:
+ Users are allowed to express their thoughts on SWSH in their own private thread without being restricted to one public thread and worry about interrupting current conversations or feel awkward posting their thoughts/reactions/art/etc in a public/discussion space.
+ Allows users who want to talk about SWSH pokemon, characters, or story without having to wait weeks or months (on top of the weeks/months they have already been waiting) before they are allowed to.
+ Users who want to avoid spoilers will not need to worry about them in public discussion threads, and have ample warning of exactly which threads have spoilers.
+ A good compromise allowing another outlet for hype/excitement/activity for users who want to talk about SWSH without making the entire site a danger zone for users who have not completed the game yet.
Cons + Responses:
- Users who want to avoid spoilers may no longer be able to 100% worry-free keep up with journals they previously read if it becomes a spoiler thread.- Response 1: As long as users are cautious, they will still be able to navigate journals as the spoilers are in hideboxes. However, yes, they will now need to be cautious in those journals instead of 100% worry free, which may be too "dangerous" for someone who is very scared about spoilers.
- Response 2: This can already happen in the case of pg-13 journals. A previously all-ages journal can change to a pg-13 journal and exclude previous readers under 13.
- Response 1: Since discussions are not allowed in journals, the risk of this happening is significantly lowered. I understand, however, some users quote posts to respond to them on their own journals, so this may still have some spoiler risks, even in a non-discussion thread.
- Response 2: Since the journal title contains a spoiler warning for the content of the thread anyway, this is no more risky than the existing spoiler thread. If that user is in that thread, they accept the risk of spoilers being contained in that thread.
- Response 1: If users are cautious and pay attention to what they are clicking, this will not happen. I understand misclicks may happen often on mobile, even if the user is being careful.
- Response 2: See the second response above.
- Response 1: This could already happen in the already existing Spoiler Thread, however, I do understand the Spoiler Thread will always be properly labeled as containing spoilers, unlike an improperly labeled user journal.
- Response 2: Users already (disregarding the rules or current spoiler policy) post spoilers in both journals and discussion threads without trying to hide them at all. Hopefully this ruling will encourage users to at least try to label their spoilers correctly, which will give spoiler-averse users more chances to avoid them. However, this ruling may also lead to more users posting about spoilers, which in turn increases the risk of someone doing it incorrectly and perhaps spoiling someone from their mistake.
- Response: See the second response above.
Final Thoughts:
I would love if this policy could be applied sitewide, especially to include things such as Art threads so they can include spoilers without the awkward PM-barrier, but I understand that poses a higher risk factor due to the higher rate of discussion/interaction and possible spoiling from quoting.

thoughts on pmd remake, talkin ab visuals
i reaaaaaaaaaally hope i can get used to this style bc uh
man its kinda distracting and not good to me
everything looks...fuzzy.....low resolution
i know it's jsut the texture, but like....thats the thing...Everything looks fuzzy, Everything has this texture
i don't want my charmander and treecko to look fuzzy ;___;'''' it Does Not Look Right
the backgrounds are nice, I like them, but I really can't...enjoy how the models look
I really do wish they were just the standard smooth(tm) models without this texture applied over them
i /know/ it's tryina emulate the watercolor look but...it just...aint workin too well chief (it doesnt even look like watercolor,,,,it just looks like a bad fuzzy texture)
hopefully a couple hours of exposure'll help me get used to it, but like......eesh
everything just looks so fuzzy and out of focus and grainy fjdksljfdkl;gfd
and i know its not the screen, because the text and UI and the lil portrait images are SUPER sharp and clear and look beautiful! but the actual 3d graphics are....eugh
it reminds me of when u play original DS games on the 3DS, and it stretches the resolution just a bit so it's kinda blurry and dont look good
its like that but This Is The Native Resolution For The Switch
i dont think it's an actual resolution problem, just...the style makes it appear that way, which i do not enjoy and find distracting ;__;
