So I recently finished the story stuff in US/UM. Really slow to get it done but I was playing alongside my sister who put the game down for a while. And being a good sibling, I waited for her to want to play it again, as opposed to nagging her or just playing ahead. But with her having beaten Let's Go Pikachu, she felt in the mood to pick it up again and we both beat the game. I know it's not really a requirement for US/UM at this point but I wouldn't want anyone stumbling upon this when they've not played it so...

Spoilers for the Post game of US/UM

To be specific, the Team RR Arc.

First off, I HATED the flashing memory puzzles. Long sequences are not fun when you have ADD and throwing battles through the middle of some sequences was really mean! It frustrated me more than it really needed to. The other puzzles were neat though. Overall I enjoyed the little arc and fighting with Lillie was cool. There's a little nitpicking below, followed by me geeking out about potential story stuff (and a bit of fangirling) but yeah, I enjoyed the RR story and did have some tough battles. I honestly still don't understand why Giovanni get's all the fanservice when the other villains working with him have achieved so much more. I mean, I get he's the original villain and I do like him as a pretty classy and respectable villain but come on, Cyrus nearly wiped out the universe and Lysandre tried to wipe out an entire world, only sparing those who agreed with his vision. Where as Maxie and Archie weren't even selfish in their actions, they genuinely believed they'd be helping by flooding the world or setting off volcanos to create land. Then there's Giovanni who I guess created Mewtwo and owns a gang who do bad stuff? And when you consider AU's, the others have succeeded in some timelines and then appear before the US/UM protagonist. Which I found more intimidating than seeing Giovanni teleport off to cause trouble in a different timeline after being beaten by the player. And then there's Ghetsis. (Who alongside Cyrus are my favourite villains, simply for the lengths they were willing to go to in order to succeed.) But I have to ask, where the heck does he fall in the timeline? I mean, he's clearly from B/W2 because he knows Colress but he's surprised when a child bests him in battle, so that means he's never been defeated in B/W. And Neo-Plasma was never formed. So does that mean there wasn't a protagonist in B/W? So, did he take the legendary from N? Ghetsis mentions making Giovanni his king, which might suggest that N is no longer aligned with Plasma. But with no protagonist to help N chose a better path, I can't help but wonder if this implies that N gave up his legendary unwillingly. After all Ghetsis has shown he's not above threatening or attacking other humans to get his way. (I genuinely loved seeing Colress show up to confront Ghetsis, he'd never really said much about his boss in B/W2 so it was interesting to hear Colress admit he despises Ghetsis. It also made Colress feel less like a glorified cameo and rather some proper fanservice to Unova fans.) Or maybe they were just trying to nod to both games and I'm overthinking it? Probably. On the subject of Unova cameos, am I the only one who felt Grimsley was a bit of a waste as a Unova cameo? Don't get me wrong, I love his character and he uses Dark types, which is awesome, but Alola is a region tied to its traditional roots, they respect nature and Pokemon and one of the biggest areas to visit is a nature reserve. One of your friends doesn't like battling Pokemon but befriends a Pokemon that turns into a legendary. ... All I'm saying is N and Lillie would've gotten along really well. They've got a lot in common, (including terrible parental figures if you consider Lusamine in Sun/Moon instead.) And I could see N spending time in Alola. It would also have been a nice way to see how much he's grown since the events of B/W2. But I also understand that'd be three Plasma members cameoing as far as US/UM are concerned, so it would be a little stale. Maybe if N had just shown up in the first games. Ooh, he could've told Lillie about how going on a journey helped him become stronger and that could've given her the idea of doing the same herself. Heh, ok I'll stop fangirling now. I'm just going to consider these 'bad' timelines a result of people failing Nuzlockes. I mean, it makes sense. You're not saving the world if you've got no Pokemon to help you.
